16/06/2011 | Peter Andre is winner of Premier Inn Celebrity Dad of the year 2011

The 38 year old dad of Junior, Princess and step-father to Harvey said “This feels so great. It was an honour to win last year but to still have the public’s support and best wishes is a tremendous feeling. This means a huge amount to me as being a dad is my most important role.”

Fans of Peter commented on the Premier Inn Facebook page that his TV programme, Peter Andre: The Next Chapter, has shown Peter as the perfect example of a hands on and down to earth dad making him the first celebrity to win either celebrity mum or dad of the year twice in a row.

With thousands of votes cast, the top spot was the most hotly contested to date. Peter battled off competition from this year’s nominees which included David Beckham, James Corden and Jonathan Ross. This year also saw the competitions first gay celebrity entrants with Elton John and David Furnish joining the shortlist only to be pipped at the post at the final hurdle.

The official Premier Inn Celebrity Dad of the Year award aims to reward the celebrity dad who has impressed the nation by balancing a hectic public life with the demands of parenting.
