The most popular spring cities on Instagram

London tops the most popular springtime city on Instagram not just for the UK, but also worldwide! Paris takes the second spot; this romantic city thrives in spring as the parks blossom and weather perks up. Two US cities make the top five – New York and Seattle, whilst Russia’s Moscow features in fifth place.

When it comes to areas of the UK that feature highly on Instagram for spring, Cornwall is head and shoulders above the rest – the county’s scenic coastline and beautiful parks really come alive at this time of year, without some of the busier crowds that come in summer. Yorkshire, Devon, Kent and Surrey also featured in the top 5.

Similarly to the top global cities to feature for springtime on Instagram, London keeps the top spot as the UK capital’s gardens and parks burst into colour, with Paris and Moscow also featuring highly. Berlin and Vienna also boast plenty of hashtags celebrating the new season in the cities.

In Australia and New Zealand, spring falls at the same time as the northern hemisphere’s autumn, making these countries perfect for a getaway just as the seasons turn colder back home. Melbourne was the most popular springtime city on Instagram, perhaps thanks to its breath-taking Botanical Gardens and wealth of exciting events and carnivals. Sydney came in a close second, followed by Perth in third place.

With fantastic weather all year round, spring is an excellent time to visit the Middle East, as the weather is warm, without the sweltering heat that can come in summer. Dubai was the most popular city for spring in the Middle East on Instagram, with Tehran and Beirut also featuring in the top three.

Spring is cherry blossom season in Korea and Japan, so it’s little surprise that the most popular springtime Asian cities on Instagram are Seoul, Kyoto and Tokyo. This eagerly anticipated seasonal event is extremely photogenic and presents some excellent opportunities for the ‘gram.

South America also celebrates its spring in our autumn, so spring fans can make the most of the season there between September and November. Buenos Aires was the most popular South American city for spring hashtags on Instagram, thanks to the gorgeous blossoming trees that line the parks and streets. Other particularly popular cities for this season include Santiago in Chile and Lima in Peru.

Another southern hemisphere continent, Africa offers a huge range of different experiences of spring from country to country. The most popular spring choice in Africa was Cape Town, with mild, clear and windless days from September to November and the scent of fragrant flowers and blossoms on the air. It’s also a great time to spot whales off the coast as well.

As the greenery emerges after winter, New York becomes the most popular city in the US for springtime Instagramming. It’s a great time to take a stroll through Central Park or New York Botanical Garden as the weather starts getting warmer. In second place, Seattle is another favourite option, with Chicago, Boston and Portland also making up the top five.
