Andy Savage from Croxteth wins national competition to be crowned Britain's best dad.
Just ahead of Father's Day this Sunday, dad of three Andy Savage, 34, of Croxteth Liverpool has been crowned Premier Inn Dad of the Year 2013. Andy, a huge community campaigner, was awarded his title as Britain's best dad by Premier Inn on the same day they named Olympic gold medalist Mo Farah as Celebrity Dad of the Year. Andy fought off stiff competition from hundreds of applicants to take the crown.
Andy was nominated by his wife Deneil and their three children, Mia (9), Caitlyn (4) and Mariella (2) for his ongoing love and support but also for his work in the local community. Andy works tirelessly in the Croxteth area alongside the local councils and charities. His work ensures young people have activities & facilities in order to reduce anti social behaviour. He works closely with Merseyside Fire Support Network and is currently in the process of setting up a local youth council to give young people a voice in their community.
Hundreds of dads were nominated for the award but Andy's inspirational story saw him win the prestigious title. One of Andy's biggest achievements was his recent campaign to save the local primary school, Our Lady of St Swithans, where his two eldest children attend. He rallied support from the whole community and worked closely with MPs and local councils to keep the school from closing and is now raising funds to refurbish the school.
