Premier Inn, the UK’s biggest budget hotel chain, was awarded the ‘World’s Leading Budget Hotel Brand’ at the 2011 World Travel Awards, beating off strong competition from the likes of Best Western, Travelodge and Holiday Inn Express.
The awards, voted for by world wide travel agents were held last night in Doha, Qatar. Described by the Wall Street Journal as the ‘Oscars of the travel industry’, they are renowned for recognising the best hospitality and tourism brands throughout the world.
Patrick Dempsey, Managing Director for Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award and would like to thank everyone who voted for us. To be recognised internationally in this way, whilst still only having a relatively small presence outside of the UK, demonstrates the strength of feeling towards the Premier Inn brand and the excellent standards and levels of customer service that the Premier Inn teams offer across the UK and worldwide.”
