Whether you want to explore the wildlife, get active on the sports field, watch a bit of theatre or simply keep the kids entertained, Cannon Hill Park has a whole host of events to keep you busy.

Wildlife
Want to find out more about the inhabitants of the park? For £70 a ranger will take you on a tour to spot the local wildlife. The guided walk lasts two and a half hours so make sure you wear comfortable shoes!

Golf
Make your way through twisted pathways and across water hazards to see if you can be a Golden Putter Champion. You can take on all 36 holes for just £8.90 for adults and £7.40 for children, or grab a family ticket for £30.

Tennis
Fancy showing off your tennis skills? Floodlights mean you can play all year round, day or night. Check out the Edgbaston Priory website to book onto coaching programmes that are run at the park.

Arts
Head to the MAC Arts Centre to catch some comedy, watch a film or see a gig. As well as shows, the centre hosts workshops. From jewellery making to craft skills, check out the website to see what you could learn.

Funfair
Want to keep the kids entertained? Cannon Hill’s fun park is packed with games, rides and activities for toddlers to 10 year olds. Rides cost one or two tokens, which you can buy from the kiosk.

Great Birmingham Run
Every October the Cannon Hill Park plays host to part of the Great Birmingham Run. If you want to join the cheering crowds of spectators, the park is the perfect spot to view the race.

Cannon Hill is such a big park, there’s no better way to explore than by the Land Train. Stopping off at all the major attractions, including the playground, mini golf, boating lake and the MAC Arts Centre, your round-trip ticket lets you hop on and off anytime, anywhere. The easiest way to pay is with a Fun Pass which you can buy at the kiosk. This can be used to pay for the Land Train, as well as the Golden Putter Mini Golf and Fun Park.

Facilities

You’ll find maps highlighting facilities, as well as the park’s main attractions, near each entrance. Public toilets, including disabled toilets, are located just off the Edgbaston Road car park.

Accessibility

A lot of effort has been made to make Cannon Hill Park accessible to everyone. Both car parks have disabled spaces, and there are also disabled toilets. The Land Train has a wheelchair accessible carriage, which makes getting around the park even easier.

Eating and Drinking

After a busy day exploring the park, you’ll want to refuel with some food and drink.

For a traditional park café experience, head to the Garden Tea Room which offers hot and cold food as well as tea, coffee and cakes. For high quality, ethically-produced products from local suppliers, head to the MAC Arts Centre. From burgers and pizzas to stews and salads, you’ll find a wide range of tasty treats at the MAC café. If you just want a quick drink, head to the Arena Bar for range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Need to quench your thirst after a day in the park? Take a trip to the Old Moseley Arms. This traditional pub is hidden away in the back streets of Balsall Heath and has a great selection of ales. For fine dining, Michelin starred Carters of Moseley offers clean flavours and seasonal ingredients in a modern but cosy dining room.

Getting to Cannon Park Hill
Situated to the south of the city centre, Cannon Hill Park has lots of transport options.

By car
The park has two car parks. The larger car park is by the MAC Arts Centre off Edgbaston Road, while the smaller one is just off the Russell Road.

By bus
There are number of bus routes which stop in the roads near Cannon Hill Park. You’ll find the 1 stopping at Edgbaston Road, the 35 at Willows Road and the 45 and 47 on Pershore Road. A short distance away on the Bristol Road, you’ll find the 61, 62 and 63.

By train
At just over 2 miles away, the nearest station to Cannon Hill Park is New Street. It’s a 15-minute bus journey away or, if you want to see the city on foot, a 40-minute walk.
