Whether you’re looking to whizz down the slopes at the indoor ski centre, fly through the air on the rides at Drayton Manor Theme Park, or take in the latest Hollywood blockbuster, there’s something for everyone in Tamworth’s bustling entertainment scene.
Entertainment in Tamworth
The first indoor ski slope of its kind in the UK, Tamworth Snowdome is 170m of snowy goodness including separate teaching slopes in the Snow Academy area. Whether you’re an experienced snowboarder who can ride rails with the best of them, an expert skier who knows their snowplough from their parallel turn, or if you’re a novice and want to learn, the Snowdome caters to everyone, with a wide range of equipment hire and lessons on offer. There’s also a large snow play area for children, an ice skating rink, a sledging, tubing and toboggan track, a swimming pool and a climbing wall, making it one of the biggest and best entertainment venues in Tamworth. The centre is open from 9am daily and as late as 11pm on Sunday-Friday and is just a short walk along Riverdrive from our Tamworth Central hotel.
A short walk over the River Anker from the Snowdome is the Tamworth Odeon, a 10-screen complex just over the road from the Ankerside Shopping Centre. With a range of RealD 3D screens, state-of-the-art premier seats and all equipped with Digital AES Sound, the cinema hosts all the latest Hollywood blockbusters with Costa and Ben & Jerry’s on hand for snacks and drinks, and Frankie and Benny’s and Beefeater restaurants nearby.
Drayton Manor Theme Park
The fourth-largest theme park in the UK, Drayton Manor Theme Park welcomes over 1.5m million guests each year and has a wide range of rides targeted at young children, families and grown-ups including Europe’s only stand-up rollercoaster, a five-sided drop tower, indoor play areas, Thomas the Tank Engine land and more. Spread over 113 acres, the park is less than 10-minutes drive from our Tamworth South hotel, and is seasonal, closing in November, January and February, with special Christmas-themed openings during December. As well as over 100 rides and attractions, the Park is also home to a 15-acre zoo which you can read more about in our Activities in Tamworth section. You can either buy a ticket for both the park and the zoo, or a cheaper ticket for park entry only.
