Shopping
On the banks of the River Anker on the southern edge of Tamworth, the Ankerside Shopping Centre is home to over 60 stores including big brands like Boots and Peacocks as well as a wide range of independent outlets spanning fashion, jewellery and homewares. As well as six cafés and restaurants, the centre also has a soft play area for children and a car park with over 700 spaces.
On the other side of the River Anker is Ventura Retail Park, the largest of the three out-of-town retail estates in Tamworth and directly over the road from our Tamworth Central hotel. A popular shopping area, it has a wide range of big-name brands including John Lewis, M&S, New Look, Currys, JD Sports, River Island and Smyths, as well as Pizza Express, Subway, Nando’s and more food and drink outlets.
Getting Around
Birmingham Airport is less than 20 miles south from Tamworth, making flying in and out of the area very easy. The journey uses major roads including the M42, meaning it takes around 25-minutes by car or taxi or around 40 minutes via train including a change at Birmingham New Street. Tamworth Train Station is located a 10-minute walk north of the town centre and our Tamworth Central hotel, and is a four-platform station with regular departures to Cardiff, London, Nottingham, Birmingham and Crewe. There’s a ticket counter, unmanned machines, café and toilets in the main hall, as well as several bars, pubs, restaurants and shops nearby including Morrisons.
