Songs from around the World

The Edinburgh International Festival is famous for hosting some of the most talented musical acts on the globe during the festival season in August. Music lovers from all over the country make the pilgrimage to Edinburgh to enjoy the sights and sounds. Fondly known as South Africa's cultural ambassadors, Ladysmith Black Mambazo will be performing at The Edinburgh Playhouse, just a short tram ride from our Premier Inn hotel at Edinburgh Haymarket. Across town at Greyfriars Kirk, nun and musicologist Sister Marie Keyrouz and her small choir will bring the rich traditions of Oriental Christian Chant and explore the canticles of the Eastern Christian Church.

From orchestra to opera, classical music lovers have plenty of exciting performances to choose from in Edinburgh. Throughout the calendar year, the Usher Hall is the headquarters of classical music in the capital, hosting regular performances from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, along with an exciting calendar of touring companies who perform at the festival and beyond. There's plenty for opera lovers to enjoy too, with performances of exciting works Les Troyens, William Tell and Owen Wingrave taking place over the course of the month
