Edinburgh City Centre (Lauriston Place) hotel

Amazing hotel Great food Very cooperative staff specially Farid and Asmin For early morning flight they asked me to rest in Lobby till midnight.

Where do I start with this. The location is fantastic, the rooms are ok, noise levels ok, bed is ok but that is where it stops. The decor is dated and tired, furniture is worn, chair coverings are dirty and sticky. They use robots to vacuum the carpets, but unfortunately the robots don't get into the corners hence very dusty rooms. The restaurant is an absolute disaster zone. We booked a deal that involved an evening meal on two evenings. Evening one was ok, despite being quiet, the food and service was average. On the second evening we went to dinner, to be told the chef hadn't turned up, perhaps a blessing in disguise as we found a beautiful Italian restaurant down the road. Breakfast is absolute manic, regularly running out of plates, cups, cutlery etc etc etc. Bottom line is that there are inadequate staffing levels. Staff levels seem to be cut to the bone with only 2 people trying to run reception and bar and serve in restaurant. Given the prices being charged during the Tattoo and Festival time, one would think Premier Inns could double the staff numbers and still be profitable. Being honest, this is probably my most disappointing hotel experience ever. It really needs to be closed down, gutted and revamped. And when reopened staffed adequately.

Room was clean and handy for going up to the tattoo. Restaurant was diabolical. Staff were untrained and only 2 servers for a nearly full restaurant. We waited over half an hour for our orders to be taken then the same again for starters to be served. After another long wait we had to ask the server for our main courses as we had to leave to walk to the castle for the tattoo. Breakfast was a little bit better as it was a buffet but for the price not an enjoyable experience Trendy pensioner

2 and 1/2 stars. Mixed feelings on this one. Pros central location, comfortable bed, good shower pressure. Negatives- breakfast total disaster, no one at the front desk, slow to respond to us at the front desk, breakfast chaos. I’d avoid breakfast in hotel save your money and go to Braw Brunch around the corner much much better place. I wouldn’t stay here again. There have to be better hotels for the price of the room.

For a first time visit to Scotland, Premier Inn was perfect for us. Clean and comfortable room, convenient location, and helpful staff. The Premier Inn Edinburgh on Lauriston is in a very cool location by the university, near a great variety of international food places, cafes, neat little art and book shops, etc. Easy walk to the Budget car rental office on Lochrin. Special thanks to the manager for going above and beyond to accommodate our complicated travel logistics - we very much appreciated him and his staff for being patient and helpful.
