Places to eat
Wondering where to eat during your stay in Stafford? We’ve gathered together an eclectic array of eateries to help you decide. As you’d expect, we’ve got fine dining options, full English breakfasts, and gastropubs. However, we’ve thrown a few other options into the mix, including our absolute favourite Italian, a royal tea room, and – of course – Staffordshire oatcakes.
Your nightlife options range from award-winning micropubs to superclubs spread across three rooms of dastardly drinks deals and questionable dancing. In between, we’ve also handpicked a few rustic pubs, a couple of cocktail options, and one particularly excellent bar where you can watch live music with wine in one hand and the best burger ever in the other.
If you want to do a bit of bargain hunting during your stay, then make your way to the 80-strong selection of stalls at Stafford Indoor Market in the heart of the town centre. It’s part of the Guildhall Shopping Centre, where you’ll also find the likes of Clarks, The Body Shop and Poundland. South of the town centre, River Stafford is the newest and most popular retail option. It’s where you’ll find the likes of H&M, M&S, River Island, and Primark. It also has several chain eateries, including Nando’s, should you get hungry.
Stafford town centre is small enough to walk around, however, if you were planning on paying a visit to some further afield activities and attractions then a car is definitely helpful. If that’s not an option, we do have Uber in Stafford. Alternatively, there are several local taxi providers, with Stafford Taxis among the biggest and most popular. In terms of public transport, Stafford Railway Station is right next to Victoria Park. There’s been a railway on the site for pushing 200 years. It has a total of five platforms with regular services to London Euston, Birmingham New Street, Bristol Temple Meads, Liverpool Lime Street, Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly.
