"Low point of trip to Edinburgh."
Disappointing/unpleasant stay. Whilst the view and location is great, it's marred by having small, dirty windows that couldn't open (safety...) The bed, whilst very comfortable, was dusty. The carpet and general decor had seen better days, and only a single towel was provided for two of us. There was basic tea, coffee, kettle, cups and slow 1MB/S WiFi. Took a shower after arriving, only to have someone banging on the door after ten minutes because apparently the smoke alarm in the room is also sensitive to water vapour... Genius move! Towelled myself and met a worried receptionist from earlier, who wanted to check if there was a fire in our room. We asked her for our second towel and she went away. A minute later, a second member of staff turned up, and proceeded to berate me for setting off the alarm with my shower vapour. I was quite taken aback honestly, especially since the noisy extractor fan was running, and we'd kept the shower door mostly closed (SO opened it twice briefly to ask a couple of questions). 10 mins and no extra towel later, decided to go downstairs to fetch one myself. Also met the rude staff member on reception, so told her that her demeanour was no acceptable. They offered to refund the breakfasts that we'd paid for. (not sure if they ever did do that) We actually wanted to leave/change our hotel by that point, but they said that we'd need to contact customer service via email arrange things. In the end, went out to see some friends, had a poor night's sleep at the hotel (the interaction with the staff had disrupted my mood). Breakfast was great, but also quite expensive. Got a small refund eventually. Won't be using Premier again.
"Terrible Facilities"
We had a family room here I.e. sleeps 4 . We didn’t bother reading terms & conditions as I suppose most ppl don’t before booking. Our room didn’t come up to scratch really it needed re painting and window frames replacing. My daughter tried to run a bath she couldn’t turn hot tap off and we asked for assistance. Someone came up to try to turn off but while doing so it broke. There were 3 of us who were unable to bath or shower that night. My granddaughter who’s graduation ceremony was at 11am morning after had to go down to an empty basement room at 7am from 3rd floor to take a shower there was no time after that for 2 more showers. Premier Inn refuse to make any small gesture to us because the room was for 2 adults and 2 children, staff knew there were 3 adults in the room but didn’t bring it to our notice while there or maybe we could have rectified somehow. We feel the occupancy shouldn’t reflect the fact we couldn’t use the shower or the bath that evening. We had a toilet and a washbasin. Not acceptable. We will never book Premier Inn ever again.
"Room for a family"
The location of the hotel is very good. The breakfast doesn't have much variety, but in general is quite good. The staff is very nice anda helpful. The room is good for a family of 4 and 2-3 days. The bathroom is basic. However, the room and the bathroom were dirty, quite dirty. They didn't make the bed one day.
""
Shower filthy, covered in mould, either leaking shower or sink as large puddle on floor, bathroom smells, room not very clean dirty skirting boards. Been staying in this hotel for about 10 years even prior to refurbishment and it’s went downhill, even the restaurant. Paid for meal deal not a lot of choice, burgers, steak and chicken. Very poor. Reported to reception, couldn’t offer another room as full. Won’t ever stay in princes street Edinburgh ever again
"It was indeed an appalling expensive experience,Clean seems to mean nothing to them. The room smelled like sewerage."
It was an appalling expensive experience. Dirty bathroom area upon arrival. Cleanliness during stay meant nothing to them. Room smelled like sewerage, obviously pipe problem. Woke up at 4:00 am because of smell. No water pressure in the bathroom. Had to indicate the fact that shower gel bottle was empty. Had to go back to reception for towels and toilet paper. Sheets not changed and apparently we had to read a notice to know this! NEVER AGAIN. TOO MUCH MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN!!!
