Visit Blarney Castle
Days out in Cork wouldn’t be complete without visiting Blarney Castle and Gardens. Located less than a half hour drive away from our Cork city hotel, this medieval castle is home to the world-famous Blarney Stone – visitors who climb to the top of the castle and kiss the stone are said to be granted the gift of eloquence! Plus, from the Himalayan Valley to the Rock Close, don’t miss out on discovering the picturesque woodland surrounding the castle, including the famous Poison Garden!
Explore Cobh
This scenic harbour town is perhaps best known for being the last port called at by the infamous Titanic on her maiden voyage. Housed in the historic White Star Line building near St. Colman's Cathedral, the interactive Titanic Experience Cobh exhibit tells the stories of the last 123 passengers to board and is one of the most popular attractions near Cork. Just a short walk away past John F. Kennedy Park, you’ll also find the Cobh Heritage Centre, a must-visit if you’re keen to find out more about the Queenstown story.
Discover the city centre
Whether you’re walking the walls of the 17th century Elizabeth Fort or admiring masterpieces at the Crawford Art Gallery, you’ll find plenty of places to visit in Cork city centre. The English Market is a must-visit for foodies, and Fitzgerald Park by the River Lee is an ideal spot to spend a laid-back afternoon. Cork City Gaol is just a 10-minute drive from the city centre too, and history buffs will love a tour of this 19th century prison. Plus, what better way to end the day than with a visit to the stylish Victorian Quarter!
