FAQs
Definitely! Whether you’re a die-hard Chelsea supporter, a football fan in general or just curious about London’s sporting culture, Stamford Bridge is a great stop. The stadium tours take you behind the scenes into the changing rooms, players’ tunnel and press areas, while the museum gives you a real sense of the club’s history. Even on non-matchdays, it’s a lively place to explore with restaurants, pubs and a buzzing atmosphere.
The closest station is Fulham Broadway on the District Line. From there, it’s just a five-minute walk to the stadium. If you’re coming in from further out, West Brompton and Earls Court are also within walking distance, making it easy to reach from most parts of London.
Stamford Bridge is best known as the home of Chelsea Football Club since 1905. It’s hosted countless Premier League and European matches and for fans it’s a bucket-list ground to visit. Beyond football, it’s also a well-known London landmark with a reputation for being one of the capital’s most iconic sporting venues.
The stadium can hold just over 40,000 spectators, making it one of the larger football grounds in London. While it’s not as huge as Wembley, it still delivers an incredible matchday atmosphere and feels very close to the action.
Stamford Bridge isn’t just about the football. You’ll find more pubs within a mile radius than any other English football ground, so pre- and post-match celebrations are easy to come by. On site, there’s also the Chelsea FC Museum and the megastore for fans wanting to soak up even more of the club’s history. But the fun doesn’t stop at the stadium gates. Just a short walk away you’ve got Earl’s Court and Fulham Broadway, packed with restaurants, cafes and shops. The King’s Road in Chelsea is also close by, great for browsing boutiques or enjoying a relaxed lunch. If you fancy stretching your legs, the River Thames is within easy reach for a scenic riverside stroll. Culture lovers can hop on the tube and be at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Natural History Museum or Science Museum in under 15 minutes. For theatre and music, The Royal Albert Hall is also nearby. And if you want a proper London day out, central hotspots like Buckingham Palace, Covent Garden and the West End are only about 20 minutes by tube.
A standard stadium tour usually lasts around 60 minutes, but you’ll want to allow extra time to enjoy the museum, browse the megastore and maybe grab a drink or bite to eat nearby. Altogether, you can easily spend a couple of hours here.
Yes, you can walk around parts of the stadium even if you don’t have a ticket on matchday. The stadium tours let you explore inside, while the area outside is filled with pubs, restaurants and great photo spots for those who just want to soak in the vibe.
Start with a stadium tour and the Chelsea FC Museum to dive into the history of the club. Football fans can stock up on gear at the megastore. If you’re hungry or fancy a pre- or post-tour pint, there are plenty of pubs and eateries nearby. And if you’re making a day of it, you’re right by the King’s Road for shopping, Fulham Broadway for food and nightlife and within a short tube ride of London’s big attractions like the museums in South Kensington and the River Thames.
