"Friendly staff"
Location is perfect. Less than 5 mins walk from Apollo theatre and close to Victoria station the staff at this hotel are amazing you can not fault their effort BUT there isnt enough staff. 1 person to mam the reception and the bar at night is crazy. 2 people running a full restaurant on a saturday evening is crazy. These poor staff are well overworked Room was clean bed comfy, check in easy but location won it for us. Food was okish. We had the meal deal which works out super cheap for London amd was a convenience but is far from fine dining. For the price paid though honestly can not complain. The 4 stars is purely because of the lack of staff and no reflection on the staff there
"Lovely staff, well located"
This hôtel is very well located at a few minutes walk of Victoria station. All the girls, including the trainees, were absolutely lovely, they did everything they could to make our journey as pleasant as possible. Nevertheless, we were worried about their work conditions, as, for example, the same person was expected to attend at the same time, the hotel reception and the service at the restaurant. The food, in my opinion, could be improved, but the meal deal does the job and saves you time and worries after a long day of visits. Again, the staff was super nice, and we wish them a nice and sweet management.
"All good!"
Nice clean hotel and very quiet. Check in was quick and easy. Staff very helpful and pleasant, particularly Ranga. Evening meal and breakfast were quick and fresh .
"Almost perfect -great location and staff are a credit!"
Great location, beautiful building almost perfect. We were in room 316, which is accessed via lift B, this wasn't made clear, so when we used the first lift and discovered more stairs this worried us a little considering a wheelchair user. We soon realised there was a 2nd lift 😂 Platform lift not working, meaning access in and out of the building was via the lift used by staff/deliveries and waste bins. Things like this can't be helped and the staff were all incredibly supportive and helpful with access. The room was very small, and if we were there for more than 1 night this would have been incredibly uncomfortable as very limited space, with creaking floor boards. The bathroom was cold, single glazed windows which were heavily condensated. The bedroom had internal double glazing but all windows sealed shut. Appreciate the building is old so some things cannot be changed. All areas accessed were clean and tidy. All staff were friendly and approachable. Location ideal for theatre/travel interchange
"Downmarket."
We arrived at 14,50hrs, check in was 15.00. we were unable to check in online, dont know why but also unable to use the self check in machine. We were not the only ones having this problem. We were told only room available then was a single room but it was waiting for towels. Why offer us a single room when there was clearly two of us. Sat in the bar and waited, thought we would have a drink whilst waiting but there was nobody available to serve. It seems the person on reception was also running the bar. When he eventually served us they were out of stock of the two beers my husband asked for. We eventually got our room key at 15.35 hrs. The bathroom was not exactly clean, a few stray hairs in the shower and mould around the shower door. The carpet also had many stains. Only one set of towels in the room, had to go and hunt down the trolley to get another set. The bed was comfortable and the linen was clean, however, the AC went off early hours of the morning and the room soon became like a sauna. We would make sure the AC was left on when we went out to keep the room cool, only to find it had turned off and we walked into a sauna each evening.
