FAQs
The Peak District is famous for its stunning landscapes, including dramatic limestone valleys, rugged hills and picturesque villages. It's known for outdoor activities like hiking, rock climbing and cycling, as well as historical sites such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
One of the nicest parts of the Peak District is the Hope Valley, with its charming villages, dramatic hills and walking trails. Castleton is also a popular destination, known for its caves, such as Blue John Cavern and its stunning countryside views.
The main town in the Peak District is Bakewell. Known for its charming market town atmosphere, Bakewell is famous for its delicious Bakewell tart and offers a range of shops, cafes and attractions like the medieval Bakewell Bridge.
The prettiest place in the Peak District is often considered to be Castleton. Surrounded by spectacular peaks, such as Mam Tor, dramatic caves and historical landmarks.
Yes, you can visit the Peak District for free! While certain attractions or activities, like guided tours or entry to specific sites, may have charges, the national park itself is open to the public and offers free access to its natural beauty, including walking, cycling and scenic viewpoints.
While a car can be useful for reaching more remote areas of the Peak District, it is not strictly necessary. There are public transportation options, including buses and trains, that can take you to popular spots. Many trails and towns are walkable or accessible by bike.
Spending a day in the Peak District could involve hiking to one of the stunning viewpoints, such as Kinder Scout or Mam Tor, exploring the surrounding villages like Bakewell or Castleton, visiting historical landmarks like Chatsworth House or enjoying outdoor activities like cycling or rock climbing.
Take an empty bottle to St Anne’s Well in Buxton and help yourself to fresh spring water. Flowing from a geothermal spring some five thousand feet below the ground and filtered through limestone, the crisp clean taste of this h2o is one to savour.
Now’s your chance to see Chatsworth House in all its glory. The spectacular gardens are a must for anyone with green fingers, the fountains and water-features will leave you aghast and the North Sketch Gallery is a celebration of ceramics and modern art.
There are plenty of rides and attractions for the faint of heart and younger ones too. Alton Towers is a family theme park after all.

A generous serving of safety - you can relax knowing that enhanced cleaning measures are in place throughout our restaurants. Tables are cleaned between visits and contactless payment is in place too, so you can dine safely and comfortably with us every time.
Clean on request - if you'd like your room cleaned during your stay with us, just let us know at reception and use the handy door hanger on the back of your door by 12pm each day.
Most Premier Inns have specially-adapted rooms allowing easier access for customers with disabilities. If there is no specially-adapted room available at the hotel of your choice, we will be happy to offer you alternative accommodation at a nearby Premier Inn. If you have difficulty walking, but do not need a specially-adapted room, please feel free to request a room near reception on the ground floor for easy access.
