"Great stay in a great location"
Great hotel in a great location and free parking, but does fill up, food and meal deal was very good. Room was clean and tidy, but be aware that ventilation runs constantly due to not having windows that open!

"Bravo especially to the staff Dawn and Dan"
Stayed here on a reunion with uni friends of nearly 40 years (hence of maturing years) . The hospitality, friendliness and helpfulness especially from “Dawn” and “Dan” had us stopped in our tracks. They really made our stay special. We have had a number of these meet ups over the years and although we regress to being 20 again we also have the expectations of the 50 + generation. The warm welcome we all received from Dawn then later by Dan reflected our whole experience of Matlock, Chatsworth House and Bakewell. Wonderful part of the country. Would highly recommend

"Great Location, nice double bedded room. Great Breakfast and Dinner meals"
Great Location and car parking with 2 charge points a bonus. However one charge point not working leaving just the one. Great breakfast and evening meals with combination available at special price. Room comfortable. Didn't realise that they will not make up your room unless you ask. Great staff throughout the visit. Bus stop just outside to go to Matlock town, Matlock Bath, Buxton, Derby or Bakewell. Crazy traffic bank holiday traffic avoided and no parking problems as able to leave car safely in car park.

"NOT a great experience with PI Matlock.9"
1) once again, we were (me, my wife and our disabled 16 year old son) allocated a room with interconnecting doors. After a previous visit to PI (Worksop) which had these and which resulted in a terrible nights 'sleep', we do not want these in our room. Receptionist switched rooms for us after we saw the original room, and mentioned that we should email ahead. This isnt the way it should be done. It should be an option on the app at the point of booking and if there are no other rooms available but interconnecting rooms, then the app should make this clear (as we would definitely not book at that point). If we had not been switched, we would have found an alternative hotel and not used PI again. The onus should not be on the customer to send a seperate email to PI customer services asking for a non IC room, after booking the room.
2) The alternative room smelt musty or strongly of cleaning agent (very noticeable when walking into room each time). In addition, the extractor fan? In the bathroom wasnt working.
3) Air conditiong / fan? Didnt really cool the room down, so had to keep the curtains closed all the time to try and keep the room cool(ish). Being on first floor, no window opening.
4) could do with a hand rail on wall for getting in and out of shower for safety reasons. Easy to slip and fall over the side of the bath and cause severe injury.
5) no atmosphere in the restaurant (10 tables in total?) at the Matlock PI, and no bar area other than 2 tables. No actual bar, and drinks were pricey and brought out by a staff member from a different room if you wanted to order a drink (subject of course to the restaurant/'bar' being open in first place at hours open were very restrictive). It was such a small area, almost an after thought it seemed. As the PI was at least a 20 min walk away to other restaurants/bars it meant either a reasonable walking distance (which is not easy with a disabled son), or a taxi fare, or we had to sit in a dark, musty smelling room for the evening on a lovely sunny April evening. We did the walk/taxi on Friday, and then checked out early on the Saturday afternoon (we were booked to go home on the Sunday). We wont be using PI Matlock again re the poor restaurant / non existent bar area facility which would have been very convenient in the late afternoon/evenings, which most other PI's all seem to have. A shame as Matlock/Matlock Bath itself is a nice area. We would use a different hotel chain if we wanted to stay in that area again. The lack of a bar area wasnt made clear on the App for this hotel, and it has made us think twice now re future stayovers with PI. Other hotel chains will be happy to take our money and business.
5) Lift wasnt working on one occasion. Meant a difficult trip to the first floor for myself and my disabled son as i had to help him navigate the stairway. Very poor.
