Bermondsey is famous for its industrial heritage, especially in leather tanning, food processing and biscuit manufacturing. It was once nicknamed the “Larder of London” and “Biscuit Town” thanks to its thriving provisions trade and factories like Peek Frean. Bermondsey Market, also known as Bermondsey Square Antiques Market, usually takes place every Friday. It’s one of the oldest antiques markets in the UK and is a great spot for vintage finds, collectibles and unique pieces. The market is held in Bermondsey Square, near Tower Bridge Road.

Bermondsey Street is famous for its mix of independent shops, gastro pubs, art galleries and historic buildings. It was once a hub for leatherworking and tanneries and many of the old warehouses have been converted into stylish apartments and creative spaces. Today, it’s a hotspot for food lovers, with places like Village East and Tanner & Co and for art enthusiasts, thanks to the White Cube Gallery. It’s also home to Maltby Street Market, Tanner Street Park, and Vinegar Yard, making it a lively destination for locals and visitors.

Yes, Bermondsey is served by Bermondsey Underground Station on the Jubilee Line 5. It’s located on Jamaica Road and connects you to London Bridge, Canada Water and Stratford, making it easy to get around the city. The station is in Travelcard Zone 2 and is known for its modern design and accessibility.
