London City (Old Street) hotel

The hotel has a self check in, we didn’t see anyone who worked there while checking in. We arrived late so it was straight to bed. In the morning when we turned the shower on or ran the tap a very loud constant horrible noise started and stayed each time we ran water. This was a nightmare for waging hand if you needed the toilet during the night. While getting ready I realised how thick the build up of dust was on the headboard and the top of the lampshades. The room was filthy. We had breakfast booked out and theatre shows etc booked but tried to catch somebody in the morning but with the self check in option, we didn’t see anyone about again. Apparently there’s a button to press if you need to speak to someone. The first member of staff we seen was on returning that night so we informed them straight away. We was given a card with an email address on to complain and they mentioned a refund. Again it was late and we were checking out in the morning so it was straight to bed. The email address didn’t work on the card we were given so googled what to do and I got on a what’s app chat. In a nutshell I got a £78 partial refund. The hotel cost me £278 but the maximum I could receive in this situation was £78. So premier inn’s standards are that they don’t have to clean your room properly, they’ll just knock a few quid off and onto the next one. There’s no way that noise just happened to us either. They must get that complaint every time. We had 2 days in London and lots of things planned but according to the hotel we should have pressed the button and waited for a member of staff to appear and then change room (which was not offered but in the what’s app chat I was told it was so made out to be a liar). So yeah, cancel that theatre show or whatever plans you have because premier inn can’t do the basics right. Stay somewhere else!

Best value room in the area when I was looking. Room itself was a decent size but unremarkable. Bed very comfortable. Decent shower. Shame there was no bottled water in the room. It was annoying to be woken by housekeeping entering my room before check out time.

We've stayed three times now. It's convenient for what we have planned. The staff are lovely and helpful. The bed is very comfortable as you'd expect with Premier Inns. But the decor is poor. The eating area is grubby and very worn. (Chairs, seating and carpets) And the corridor carpets were filthy on our last visit. In need of a good vacuum. We will definitely stay again but a refurb would make our stay more enjoyable. Thank you to the hard working staff.

The pricing for the Old Street Premier Inn is often better for a fairly central hotel, however it feels fairly tired. My low score reflects the fact that I didn’t notice the room had no towels the next morning which was a pain. When I left the hotel I mentioned it to the guy on reception who had no interest in recording the fact and certainly no empathy. I use Premier Inn all the time and generally I think they are fantastic value for money but if this had been my first visit I would never use them again.

Excellent stay since it was close to the venue a friend was playing. Hotel is located in an area close to good bus network, and the tube. Calm setting with customer assistants only too willing to help you with the on-board process. The room was spacious with ample storage and electrical points. Lots of room to exercise and organise my things. Beverage making facilities were available. Desk space with appropriate lighting to complete work on my laptop. Strategically placed TV with all channels. Excellent bathroom with a bath to luxuriate, and a shower alternative. I was unable to hear street traffic.
