"Newcastle South Premier Inn"

The staff at this budget hotel are brilliant, really friendly, helpful, suggesting places of interest. They have free maps of the City available and reception and printed me a local bus map ! There is a a good bus service into Newcastle City Centre. The title is a bit deceptive, as its actually across the Tyne in Gateshead, rather than in Newcastle. The adjacent pub, is warm and welcoming , great staff. The view from the room wasnt the best, but we only slept in the hotel, which as,you expect was quiet, clean, good value for money. It was my first visit to Newcastle, but hope not my last

"Worst night sleep ever"

Hotel staff friendly and helpful, breakfast Good, room was very badly decorated paint all over lights, wood work all swollen with water so to fix it the must have used a ton off silicone it looked awful, everything just looked old and dated, the bed was just terrible the mattress was old and my husband and myself just sank into the middle, we had to sleep at the bottom off the bed which was a bit better but woke up with a sore back, and the room smelled off chemicals, very disappointing we have stayed in more superior premier inns than this one.

"A Most Friendly Welcome"

Very usefully situated for fast access to the main Gateshead / Newcastle routes. Lovely, smiling welcoming and helpful staff. The room was very spacious and clean with a huge king size bed although the décor was looking just a little tired. The bathroom was fitted with a bath with a shower over. The shower gave a fantastic "power shower" experience and there was an endless supply of hot water. I would however recommend that you do take your own soap / shower products as those supplied leave a lot to be desired. The breakfast does, at first, seem rather expensive but the content is as big and varied as you wand and the quality was excellent, so worth paying the extra for the full works

"GNR"

We were visiting for the Great North Run - small Premier Inn, but so clean and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble and water, fruit and other goodies supplied free for runners. Not many people paid a donation to charity though - meanies! Even when the mini buses laid on we're running late, a member of staff put runners in her car and got them to the start of the race. The staff did us proud on our two night stay. Thank you!

"Meal Deal"

The meal deal at Premier Inn's own Thyme restaurant is excellent but you need to go to the other Premier Inn, just down the road, to get it and it is only available to you if they are not too busy. Both dinner and breakfast are excellent.
