"Nice hotel - shame about the restaurant."
The staff on reception were fantastic and were very helpful and welcoming, even offering to help carry our luggage as my husband is in a wheelchair.
The accessible room was as expected though an improvement might be to make sure that light switches are at the level of bedside table rather than having to stretch up. A central light would be useful too when more light is needed.
Our experience in the restaurant was very disappointing. My husband’s meal was cold and a tomato which should have been grilled was raw. My meal was a Thai GREEN curry with added chicken. The chicken was cold, a whole RED chilli had been thickly sliced and added to the curry complete with seeds. I like spicy food but usually the chilli is finely sliced into small pieces so the flavour can be spread throughout the whole meal rather that in a few very hot mouthfuls. We complained to the waiter when he asked if everything was ok with our meals but not only did he not comment, he simply walked away. Clearly the expectation was that customers will always be positive. We also complained to the manager when we left and he simply said ‘sorry’ but there was no attempt to put things right or to placate us.
I can only conclude that the person in the kitchen was not up to speed with what is required and more training would be helpful.
We are returning customers and have eaten in the restaurant many times. Unless the standard improves we would probably not eat there again.Profits must be good if you can afford to ignore customers feedback.

"Personal items - Dishonestly"
I’ve stayed in many a premier inn but I’ve never stayed in one where items were not returned to their owners after being left at reception. After a night out with family for a special occasion- I was helping a family member back to their room and left my shoes on the chair at reception. After I returned and asked if they’ve been picked up or put in the office for safe keeping (as any other reputable business would do) I was informed nothing had been handed in nor had anything been logged in the lost property. These were Louis Vuitton shoes and as you can imagine I was distraught. I knew these were left in reception and if a family member hadn’t lifted them someone else had (we had over 20 family members staying at the hotel for the weekend). After numerous enquiries to reception to be told each time, there was nothing handed in, one family member asked to see the CCTV and lo and behold, the shoes were returned within the hour. I’m glad to have them back, but I can 100% confirm that none of my family members had collected these on my behalf. I wouldn’t stay here again. I wouldn’t advise anyone else too. This is an honest review. I’m back down to Newcastle in June, staying at the premier inn on the quay, I’ve no issues with premier inn as a hotel, just reporting my experience with this particular chain and dishonest staff.

"Worst customer experience"
My experience was very poor, I arrived very late and asked for a room to be told it was fully booked, I checked online to book a room at the same hotel. The attendant sat and watched me book a room and said "well I can't book you a room at the desk" which I'm pretty sure is a lie and if it isn't, it is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I have heard. Once I booked and paid he then made me feel I was an inconvenience to him and made me wait even longer to be shown to my room. The room itself was okay, tidy and comfortable. I do believe the price of the room was excessive for the amount of time I was in. I hope I get a response to this as I left it with a manager as I left but have not been contacted in regards to this experience. Which again I find as a let down in service. The experience should have been a very simple one which was made into a fiasco and a diabolical stay.

"Nice, friendly staff. Room was clean. Decor could do with some TLC. Breakfast in nearby pub."
Not a huge amount to say, as it was quite a flying visit, but it was easy enough to check in. As for the room, the 3-in-1 picture frames at different heights showed a small lack of TLC on the decor, the room, itself, was fine. No complaints.
The breakfast was the typical affair and was nice and filling. The waiting staff were very efficient. My plate had gone almost as soon as I had finished my last fork-full. They did ask if I was finished, though; so, not an issue. :-) It's a shame the breakfast was a short walk to the nearest pub. Only a couple of minutes, tops, but it was snowing heavily at the time, and it was COOOOLD at 9am! Pub staff were also polite.
On checking out we were offered snow-scrapers with big, padded gloves. Nice gesture. I had my own, but still... a nice offer, all the same.
