"In need of a refurb"
Great city and hotel location was fantastic, not far from the train station and shops. The hotel is in need of a refurb but was reasonably priced. Lovely professional staff but had been allocated the wrong room. We had emailed to be on the same floor as my disabled brother but on arrival was allocated a room 2 floors below which was problematic for his night time care. Apparently the hotel did not have a suitable room to move us to. The bedrooms are slightly bigger than other Premier Inns we have stayed in but the cleanliness was not up to the usual standard. The breakfast was better organised though but it could do with more staff to clear the dishes.
"Nice Hotel"
All good except only one towel for two of us and we didn't realise till one came out of the shower and the other went in so not feasible to go down to reception to ask for another one
"Convenient clean hotel"
Excellent central location, easy walking distance from the train station. Rooms and corridors all clean. Our room was facing out onto the main street but was incredibly quite for such a busy location, no noise complaints at all. Friendly staff, from check in to check out all the staff were polite and cheerful. Overall a great location!
"Mouldy and Dusty Room"
Worst Premier Inn we have stayed in. Checked in for 1 night for Sam Fender gig so fortunately was only there to sleep. The room had mould around the windows, on the bathroom ceiling and on the shower head. There was thick dust on the skirting boards and bedside lamps. The pillows were as flat as pancakes and no tab on the additional pillow bag to say they were fresh. When we checked out we were not asked about our stay and there was no friendly chat, so we didn’t report it to them. Emailed Premier Inn when we got home and got a bog standard response about how we hadn’t mentioned it to Reception and that they would have moved us into another room if we had. Not sure how, the hotel was fully booked. Won’t stay at this Premier Inn again.
"Great Service"
On checking in I asked for a room at the end of a corridor as I dislike noise disturbing my sleep. The receptionist couldn't have been more helpful, giving me room 347 on 1st June for one night. Later in the evening I realised that the hotel rooms do not have USB ports, only plugs, and again, reception saved the day and loaned me one. My room was what I expect from PI; clean, quiet and comfortable. All amenities functioned fine, the bathroom was in a good condition. My only negative about the hotel was that I used the taxi booking service in the foyer, and the next morning was greatly overcharged, £17.50 to The Freeman. The return next day was £10. It's well worth seeking out the 'art deco' parts of the hotel, the staircase is magnificent and the building has a wonderful history which is explained on the walls.
