Newcastle Airport is the only airport in Newcastle. It’s well situated for flights to and from North East England, Southern Scotland, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.
Yes, Newcastle International Airport operates flights to short and long-haul destinations, as well as a wide selection of domestic locations. You can expect to fly to European holiday spots such as Portugal, Spain or Germany, as well as far-flung destinations like America, Thailand or Hong Kong.

By Car
It’s only a 15-minute car journey from the city centre to Newcastle Airport. Just take the A167 north-west from the city, continuing onto the B6918 which signposts the airport clearly. Taxis can pick up and drop off directly outside the terminal. Either take a metered taxi or book a transfer.
By Metro/Train
The Metro light rail system has a station in the airport and the journey from city centre stops such as Haymarket, Monument or Central Station take around 25 minutes.
By Bus
From Eldon Square in the centre of Newcastle, you can catch the X77, X78 or X79 from Monday to Saturday. Expect the journey to take around half an hour.
Newcastle Airport is indeed open 24 hours a day, with shops open from 4am until 8pm. The Duty Free shop and WHSmith are open between the first and last flight for any essentials or gifts.
There is a post box before security at Newcastle Airport, so you’ll need to post any items you have before going through to departures.
The Short Stay 2 Car Park at Newcastle Airport is around three minutes’ walk from the terminal and offers 15 minutes free parking – perfect for dropping off or picking up. All other parking is charged, including the Express Car Park which starts at £2 for 10 minutes.
The majority of Newcastle Airport is a no-smoking area, but there are designated smoking shelters at the front of the terminal building or outside for patrons of Bar 11.

If there is no specially-adapted room available at the hotel of your choice, we will be happy to offer you alternative accommodation at a nearby Premier Inn.
