FAQs
There is only one airport in Aberdeen; Aberdeen International Airport, located at Dyce, a suburb of Aberdeen just under seven miles outside the city centre.
Aberdeen Airport is an international airport that carries flights from many airlines flying to European destinations such as Paris, Amsterdam and Copenhagen.
Aberdeen Airport is owned by AGS Airports Ltd, which also owns and operates Glasgow and Southampton airports.
Aberdeen Airport opened in July 1934 as Dyce Airport; initially it was intended to link London with the northern islands of Scotland. It became a Royal Air Force station (RAF Dyce) during the Second World War and, following the discovery of oil in the North Sea, helicopter flights began in 1967. In 1988 a passenger terminal was completed, enabling travellers an opportunity to fly to and from Aberdeen both internationally and domestically.
After completing a 124-metre extension to its main runway in October 2011, Aberdeen Airport’s runway is now 1,953 metres long.
