FAQs
Yes, Falkirk is absolutely worth visiting! It’s packed with unique attractions, fascinating history and great scenery. The town sits right between Edinburgh and Glasgow, and it offers some of Scotland’s most impressive landmarks – like The Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel. Whether you’re into art, engineering or just want a relaxing day out with beautiful views, Falkirk has something for everyone.
Falkirk is best known for two iconic landmarks: The Kelpies – the world’s largest equine sculptures standing at 30 metres tall – and the Falkirk Wheel, a unique rotating boat lift that connects the Forth & Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. The town also has historical significance, with the Battle of Falkirk being a key event in Scottish history and Callendar House, a beautiful French chateau-style mansion, which tells the story of the town’s past.
Falkirk is more of a medium-sized town. It’s not a huge city, but it’s certainly bigger than your typical small town. That means it’s got plenty of things to do, places to eat and shops to explore, but it still has an easy-going atmosphere that’s great for a relaxed visit.
Falkirk has several sister towns, but the most prominent is Creteil in France, located just outside Paris. This twinning promotes cultural exchange and friendship between the two areas. Falkirk has also had links with towns in the United States and China over the years.
