Yes, Malvern is definitely worth a visit! Nestled at the foot of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire, this pretty town combines beautiful scenery with a rich history. It’s ideal for walking holidays, countryside escapes and peaceful getaways. You’ll find everything from scenic hill walks and historic buildings to cosy cafes, local arts and a vibrant theatre scene.
Malvern is a town, not a city. In fact, it's made up of several smaller areas including Great Malvern (the main hub), Malvern Link and Malvern Wells. Despite its size, Malvern has a lot going on – from arts and culture to great outdoor activities.
Malvern is well-located for exploring nearby towns. Worcester is about 8 miles away and has a cathedral, river walks and plenty of shops and restaurants. Ledbury, just over the Malvern Hills in Herefordshire, is a picturesque market town full of independent shops and traditional black-and-white buildings. Upton-upon-Severn is a pretty riverside town nearby known for its music festivals and quaint pubs.
Yes, Malvern has two train stations: Great Malvern and Malvern Link. Both stations are on the same train line and connect to Worcester, Hereford and Birmingham, with services running to and from London too (via a change). The stations are conveniently located, making it easy to get around without a car.
Malvern is best known for the Malvern Hills, which are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a huge draw for walkers and nature lovers. It’s also famous for its natural spring water – Malvern water was once bottled and served to royalty! The town has a long history as a Victorian spa destination, and it's closely linked to Sir Edward Elgar, one of England’s greatest composers, who lived and worked in the area. Malvern also has a great arts scene, with the Malvern Theatres being a popular cultural venue.
