FAQs
Hagley is best known for Hagley Hall and Park, an18th-century stately home surrounded by 350 acres of landscaped parkland. The estate was designed by George Lyttelton, 1st Baron Lyttelton, and is a brilliant example of Palladian architecture. The park includes follies, a ruined castle and a Palladian bridge, all set against the backdrop of the Clent Hills. Hagley also has deep historical roots and the parish register here is the oldest in England, dating back to 1538. The area even has Iron Age history, with the remains of a hill fort on Wychbury Hill. And if you're into music, John Bonham of Led Zeppelin once lived here!
Absolutely! Hagley is a great mix of natural beauty, history and peaceful countryside. Whether you're into scenic walks, historic architecture or just want a relaxing day out, there's something here for you. Hagley Hall is a highlight, and the surrounding parkland is ideal for a gentle stroll or a picnic. Plus, the village itself has a welcoming feel, with cosy cafes and local spots to explore.
Hagley is a village that’s it’s well-connected and has everything you’d need for a great visit, including shops, pubs, green spaces and a train station that links it to Birmingham and Kidderminster.
No, Hagley is officially a village, even though it’s grown quite a bit over the years. It’s part of the Bromsgrove District in Worcestershire and sits right on the edge of the West Midlands. Despite its size, it has a lively community and a good range of amenities.
That depends on how much you want to explore! A short circular walk around the village and nearby countryside can take 30 minutes to an hour. But there’s also a 12.5-mile circular route that takes you through the surrounding countryside, including Clent Church and Castle Folly.
Yes, Hagley is a great spot for families with children. There’s plenty of space for kids to run around and explore, especially in Hagley Park, where they can enjoy nature walks, spot deer and ducks and hunt for hidden follies and bridges. For something more hands-on, Coffee n Clay is a fun pottery painting studio where kids can get creative and take home their own masterpiece. Nearby, Also the Falconry Centre is just outside Hagley and offers exciting bird of prey displays and close-up encounters. If your little ones love animals, this is a must-see. There’s also Wassell Grove Fisheries, which has peaceful lakes and is great for a gentle walk or a bit of fishing with older kids.
No there is an entry fee to access Hagley Park. However the picnic areas and parking are free to use, so you can still enjoy parts of the site without paying for full access. If you're planning to visit more than once, there are season passes available that can make it more worthwhile.
