FAQs
Solihull is well known as the home of the iconic Land Rover brand, with its major manufacturing plant playing a big role in the local economy. It’s also famous for its leafy streets and proximity to both countryside and city. In recent years, Solihull has gained a reputation for being one of the more affluent and attractive places to live and visit in the West Midlands, with a strong focus on green spaces and shopping.
Solihull is known for its blend of modern town life and green surroundings. The town has a strong retail scene with popular destinations like Touchwood Shopping Centre, as well as traditional high street areas and regular markets. It’s also recognised for its well-kept parks such as Malvern and Brueton Parks, plus a busy cultural calendar that includes food festivals, local theatre and events. It’s a base for exploring both Birmingham and the Warwickshire countryside, making it a popular stop for weekend trips.
Solihull is considered a large town; it’s one of the biggest towns in the West Midlands outside of Birmingham but still manages to keep a relaxed feel. It has a sizeable town centre, multiple retail zones, excellent transport links and a range of parks that give it the feel of a well-rounded mini-city.
The closest city to Solihull is Birmingham, which is around 10 miles away. Thanks to good transport links, including a direct train line and several main roads, you can get into Birmingham city centre in around 15 to 20 minutes. Coventry is also nearby, making Solihull a great middle ground for exploring both cities while staying somewhere a bit more peaceful.
