Baxter Gate is one of Doncaster’s most well-known streets, especially for shopping and dining. It connects to the main market area and is packed with high street stores, cafes and restaurants. If you’re after nightlife or a bite to eat, Silver Street is another go-to spot – it's lively and home to several bars, pubs and eateries. For a more historical feel, High Street has lovely architecture and plenty of local character. 

Yes, Doncaster is considered a big town – and now officially a city, since being granted city status in 2022! Before this, Doncaster was still one of the largest towns in South Yorkshire. It’s known for its historic markets, major transport links and a lively mix of shops, entertainment and attractions. 

Yes, Doncaster is a great shopping destination! The Frenchgate Shopping Centre in the heart of town is packed with well-known fashion brands. Then there’s Doncaster Market, one of the biggest and most historic in the country, offering everything from fresh produce and meats to crafts and fashion. You’ll also find lots of high street shops and local independents around the town centre. 

You can visit Doncaster Racecourse for a day at the races, explore history at Conisbrough Castle or the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum and learn about wildlife at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, which is just outside the town. Families will enjoy Cusworth Hall, a grand country house with parkland and a museum. Plus, there are riverside walks, local markets, and seasonal festivals to check out throughout the year. 

Yes, just outside Doncaster you’ll find Conisbrough Castle, one of the UK’s best-preserved medieval stone keeps. It’s a short drive or bus ride from the town centre and offers a real step back in time, with amazing views from the top.  

There’s plenty nearby! The Yorkshire Wildlife Park is just a short drive away and home to lions, polar bears and lots more – a must-visit for families. You can explore Brodsworth Hall and Gardens, a beautiful English Heritage site, or take a scenic walk at Hatfield Moors. Historic towns like Bawtry and Epworth are also close, each with their own charm. And if you’re into aviation, the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum is right in town. 

Birmingham is around 90 miles south of Doncaster, but it’s very accessible. By train, the journey typically takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, while by car it’s closer to 2 hours, depending on traffic. It makes for a doable day trip if you're up for a bit of travelling.

Clean on request - if you'd like your room cleaned during your stay with us, just let us know at reception and use the handy door hanger on the back of your door by 12pm each day.

Most Premier Inns have specially-adapted rooms allowing easier access for customers with disabilities. If there is no specially-adapted room available at the hotel of your choice, we will be happy to offer you alternative accommodation at a nearby Premier Inn. If you have difficulty walking, but do not need a specially-adapted room, please feel free to request a room near reception on the ground floor for easy access.
