Doncaster (Lakeside) hotel

Best premier inn we have stayed in, in a last few trips away! We purposely stayed here from previous reviews and also for the distance from Yorkshire wildlife park. We stayed overnight as it was our 8 year olds birthday the following morning to take her the wildlife park. I had emailed twice to inform the hotel of her birthday and possibly make the room abit more of a suprise for her considering she wasn’t waking up in her own house being all decorated. These emails were ignored and not answered, so I made a point of mentioning to the receptionist on our arrival, to which she just said happy birthday for tomorrow to our daughter. We went to our room, nothing had been done, which was such a let down after I had read reviews of someone else bringing their child on their birthday and the member of staff asking them to give her 10mins and she decorated and left little gifts. Pretty poor for the same not to happen to us! Anyways that was my only issue, the location was perfect, the beds was sooo comfy! Room was lovely and super clean. Bonus was the extra security measures on doors, needing a key card to gain access. Staff was pleasant. Only real issue was breakfast the next morning, we have had better choices and options in other premier inns and the amount of times I had to ask for the coffee machine to be fixed was a joke, breakfast was cold when I got to it, “empty milk” “no coffee beans” “no ground beans” I gave up in the end and bought a Costa when we left.

Unfortunately, my stay at Premier Inn Doncaster was very disappointing. The restaurant and kitchen appeared poorly organised, with numerous items unavailable from both the dinner and breakfast menus. The food quality was also well below expectations.

Have stayed at the Premier Inn Doncaster many times in the past, it has a good secure spacious car park, rooms are always clean and have everything you need for a overnight stay and previously a Beefeater restaurant attached where we always had lovely meal and few drinks in the bar till late. This time round we had no issues with our room or the car park but sadly a disappointing experience with the food & meal deal not being what was advertised It appears since the recent closure of the Beefeater and rebranding the staff and menus have changed but it is not yet up and running to the standard you would expect from a Premier Inn and there is clearly a communication issue between staff. At present the restaurant is not providing the full 'NEW' menu advertised in reception/rooms neither is the bar remaining open late - it closed at 10pm on the Friday night we stayed there. It is also only open to hotel guests & not the general public. We paid for the £28.50 meal deal on arrival expecting to choose from the vast selection of meals offered in the menu left in the room, when we went to order we were told it was a limited menu (4 starters/8mains) given to us on a typed sheet. We were also advised of a minimum 40 minute wait for food (despite restaurant appearing about a 1/3 full), after ordering we were then told the bar would be closing sharp at 10pm. The food was acceptable but the restaurant was cold and lacked any atmosphere. The breakfast was also a little disappointing in that there were only 6 hot food items and no mushrooms or hash browns as advertised by Premier Inn Hopefully in time once the re-branding changeover is sorted things will return to the standard you usually always get with in a Premier Inn. We have sent feedback to Premier Inn of our experience There are many other options to eat in the surrounding retail park, we also observed several guests getting food deliveries whilst there.

A warm welcome, very clean and well presented rooms. Very close to the lake with a scenic walk. Though close to the road it is very quiet and we would certainly stay here again.
