"Ticks all boxes"
Prices of hotel rooms in Edinburgh seem to have rocketed in the last few years, Premier Inn was chosen as it was much more affordable, and we’re hardly in the room as always go for an evening out and then up early sightseeing the next day. Our room was clean, spacious, had an extra single bed in, air con worked on what was the hottest day of the year and we heard no noise so we slept soundly. Bed and pillows very comfy. Breakfast was extra and it was quite nice, good selection, buffet style help yourself and they didn’t run out of anything, and seemed to be refilling regularly. Friendly staff kept us right about local buses. Only downside is expensive on street parking but they can offer a stay in a nearby NCP for £17 but we’d already paid for on street parking. Wouldn’t hesitate to return if the price is right again on my next trip.
"Awful Premier Inn"
I’ve stayed in many Premier Inns in different locations and this is the worst I’ve ever stayed in. My daughter took me to a concert at the castle and paid for accommodation too, choosing this hotel as it was close to the castle. We arrived at 4.20pm and were told the allocated room wasn’t ready so we were given an alternative room, 306. The room was smelly and the air conditioning didn’t work properly. The toilet seat in the bathroom didn’t seem clean so I sprayed hand sanitiser on it. The sink was clean, but the bottle with handwash was filthy. The bath had hairs on it, all round the plug hole there was something that looked caustic powder round it, behind the taps was really dirty and the floor behind the door was covered in hardened dust and the rest of the floor didn’t look very clean. The floor behind the door had not been cleaned in a long time. The curtains had holes in them, the window sill between the sliding door and window was filthy. There was black tape presumably covering a hole in the ceiling near the bathroom. The remote control was greasy and the hair dryer was rubbish. The skirting boards in the room and bathroom were dirty. The only positive was the bed linen was clean. The first and last time I would stay there.
"Very Good Location!"
The staff are so friendly and helpful, the location is perfect, Room standard, very clean, very well maintained, asked for a fan as very warm overnight, received one within minutes!! Hotel is 10min walk to the Grassmarket, 2min walk to bus stop to travel into Princes Street, takes about 10mins.
"Okay living with a unclean room....choose premier inn"
They have not clean my room for 7 days despite repeated reminders and the staff is rued enough to tell you that they are too busy to clean your room after 5 days also.
"Better places to stay"
The hotel is very well located to explore Edinburgh on foot or by bus. The room we were allocated (304) was clean but shabby with ripped curtains that were not changed after reporting. We stayed here for 4 nights and there is little storage for clothes. For the price we paid (£191 per night excluding breakfast) I would suggest staying at the Novotel next door which looks far superior and has gym and pool facilities. Breakfast at £10 per per person is good value, however luke warm.
