"Awful"

On arrival I had to press the service bell to get someone to reception, it looked very much like he was the only staff member on duty. The room smelt of chemicals which was unpleasant. The heater malfunctioned resulting in the room reaching 30degrees hardly compatible with a good nights sleep. The power cable to the heater was coming away from the wall and showed signs of heat damage. The plaster in the bathroom was cracked and flaking by the mirror. The grab rails in the bath were filthy. I chose to drive over 200 miles home rather than spend a second night there

On arrival we were allocated one of the newly refurbished rooms at the far end of the hotel. Everything was brand new, and the lovely smell of new carpet greeted us. The remote for the TV didn’t work, there was no way of contacting reception from the room, no phone number. We trekked back to reception to be given new batteries. TV remote still didn’t work, back to reception we went to be given three more remotes to try which none of them worked. In the end we gave up. Also the LED light on the smoke alarm above bed flashed so bright we found it hard to sleep. We can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat in the hotel but the dining room did look very small. Overall satisfactory for a one night stay.
