"Comfortable Stay, but Breakfast Was a Major Letdown!!"

The room itself was perfectly adequate, and I did sleep well, so no complaints on that front. However, the breakfast experience was extremely disappointing and significantly detracted from the overall stay. Breakfast was served in a very small room referred to as “The Social,” which was wholly inadequate for the number of guests. The space was incredibly cramped, with people having to squeeze past and clamber over one another just to reach the food area. It created a chaotic, uncomfortable atmosphere that felt far below what I would reasonably expect. The food was set out in a very limited serving area, with a restricted choice of options. On top of that, items were not being replenished properly. Due to the overcrowding and lack of available food, we were ultimately unable to have breakfast at all—despite having paid for it. Considering the hotel has over 100 rooms, the size and setup of this breakfast area is clearly not fit for purpose. It feels like a temporary or makeshift arrangement, possibly a converted bedroom after the loss of the pub space, but it simply does not meet an acceptable standard for guest dining. Overall, while the room was fine, the breakfast situation was a major letdown and needs serious improvement.

"Not terrible but not good"

Some guy without footwear punching the vending machine in reception when we arrived. This, in hindsight set the tone for our time at the hotel . Staff are polite enough. There was a door right outside our room to reception ( Room 25 - dont stay in this room ) the door is slow close but slams shut at the last second, which of course is great for sleep. The room was freezing with one rusty electric radiator. Shower head covered in green limescale and just generally dirty. Breakfast is in a tiny room 'The Social' where people clamber over eachother like animals to get to the hot food served at a hatch in the wall. Take your choice of tables with left over food strewn around.. the whole experience giving One flew over the Cuckoos nest. If you manage to fight through the tiny space, retrieve food from the hatch and find a table not coated in bean residue, the food itself is actually really good. To summarise, I know were talking budget hotels but funneling guest around a hatch in a wall, mouths agape like baby birds, hoping to snatch the last sausage on the hot plate is not the one. Consider layout, let's give the place a wipe, move left overs and fix the door PLEASE.
