In recent years, Wrexham has gained international fame thanks to Wrexham AFC and its Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, putting the town on the global map. But Wrexham’s significance goes back centuries – it’s known for its impressive St Giles’ Church, the medieval Erddig Estate and its long history in coal and leather production.
Wrexham is the largest town in North Wales – now officially a city. It’s big enough to have everything you need like shopping, entertainment, green spaces, yet small enough to explore comfortably on foot. It serves as a hub for the surrounding region, so while it’s not huge compared to major cities, it definitely punches above its weight in character!
Wrexham’s popularity has skyrocketed recently, thanks in part to the attention on Wrexham AFC and the town’s community-focused vibe. But there’s more to it than football – the area is packed with beautiful countryside and historical landmarks. Its location, close to both the Welsh hills and the English border, makes it ideal for short breaks and day trips.
Yes, Wrexham is great for shopping with a mix of well-known retailers and independent gems. You’ll find high street brands in places like Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre and the town centre, plus unique finds at local markets and boutique shops. Wrexham’s outdoor markets are a local tradition, with everything from fresh produce to crafts.
It is! Wrexham’s city centre is compact and easy to explore on foot, with most attractions, shops, cafes and green spaces within a short walking distance. There are also scenic routes like the Clywedog Trail or the walk through Bellevue Park for a more relaxed pace. Sites like Erddig are also accessible via footpaths.
Wrexham isn’t coastal, but you can get to the beach quite easily. Rhyl and Prestatyn, both located on the North Wales coast, are the closest and take just under an hour to reach by car. These seaside towns have sandy beaches, a promenade and beautiful coastal views.
There’s plenty to keep you busy! Visit Erddig Hall, a beautifully preserved National Trust estate with gardens and historic rooms. Head into town to explore St Giles’ Church, one of the finest examples of medieval architecture in Wales. For football fans, a trip to the Racecourse Ground, the home of Wrexham AFC, is a must. You can also relax in Bellevue Park, stroll the Clywedog Trail or learn about local history at Wrexham County Borough Museum.

Bed linen and towels - laundering all our linen and towels at over 60°C to thermally disinfect them, so you can enjoy a great night’s sleep. We’ve also placed spare pillows in a zip-up bag, for extra peace of mind.
Equipping our teams - providing our team members with all the equipment and sanitisers they need, as well as always operating in the safest way possible for our teams and guests.
A generous serving of safety - you can relax knowing that enhanced cleaning measures are in place throughout our restaurants. Tables are cleaned between visits and contactless payment is in place too, so you can dine safely and comfortably with us every time.
Clean on request - if you'd like your room cleaned during your stay with us, just let us know at reception and use the handy door hanger on the back of your door by 12pm each day.
Most Premier Inns have specially-adapted rooms allowing easier access for customers with disabilities. If there is no specially-adapted room available at the hotel of your choice, we will be happy to offer you alternative accommodation at a nearby Premier Inn. If you have difficulty walking, but do not need a specially-adapted room, please feel free to request a room near reception on the ground floor for easy access.
