What to do in Southbank

Southbank Centre
Calling Southbank Centre an arts centre doesn’t really do this vastly important collection of cultural institutions justice. It’s made up of the Hayward Gallery, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and the Saison Poetry Library.

Tate Modern
Even if you’re not that interested in modern art, Tate Modern is still a great place to experience - especially the Turbine Hall. Go on a guided tour or pick up an audio guide to learn the most.

The Globe
Watch a Shakespearian tragedy, comedy or drama just a few hundred yards from the site of the original theatre. Make sure you hire a cushion.

Borough Market
This historic and ever-evolving food market at Borough is at full capacity Thursday - Saturday, but there are plenty of permanent places to delight your tastebuds the rest of time. Expect tantalising food and drink from all over the UK, and rest of the world.

National Theatre
Take a break from West End musicals and buy tickets to the National Theatre. Showing a mixture of new plays and classics across its three stages, there are up to eight productions on at any one time.

The British Film Institute (BFI)
BFI (British Film Institute) is a film buff’s fantasy. It shows over 2000 classic and contemporary films a year as well as running seasons, director and actor retrospectives. It has a great bar too.
