Oxford City Centre (Westgate) hotel

The lights in my room, 316 were faulty. I had to come to reception twice to ask for help and the second time there was a faulty light flashing bright white when i had turned out the lights to try and sleep. I ended up getting to sleep much later than planned and having to come to reception in my pyjama's. Staff were helpful but the hotel was fully booked and i got the impression that bashing the light card holder and carrying on was standard practice rather than getting it properly fixed. I hope it will be fixed and others won't also suffer. No discount was offered and should have been. A colleague in the same hotel had the same problem and had to use her phone torch to get ready for bed.

Excellent location! Oxford is fabulous. Great room....clean and tidy and a great value breakfast! Stayed to go to BedBy10pm event (awesome) Will stay again.

In an excellent position for the city centre, sights and amenities, both the Premier and Oxford are highly accessible. Wife uses a wheelchair and had no issues. We walked/chaired from the station and throughout only used a bus once whilst we got our bearings - then realised walking was even easier. The Premier is typical of the brand and provides a comfortable base to see the city. Four comfortable nights and four good breakfasts. On a main bus route, but perfectly quiet. Staff were extremely good, welcoming, helpful and also careful over my wife's food allergy (Coeliac). Aung was helpful on our arrival and at an evening meal. Colin took great care at breakfasts. However, all staff deserve a thumbs up. Wifi was weak. TV set-up was...hilarious. Have to see the funny side, but channel selection and setting were a lottery. Room changes should automatically involve a reset and retune (since they are locked to customers)! Like all Premiers, the place could do with a refresh but was no worse, generally better, than hotels in it's class (- those little things like tired shower sealant in some places. In a quieter week, half an hour maintenance in each room would make a massive difference).

Great location. Easy walk from the train station, buses stop outside, loads of restaurants and shops on the doorstep. Comfortable bed as always with Premier Inn. The room has all you need. Unfortunately the staff are not as good as they are in other hotels. The 'welcome' was awful, with a very grumpy receptionist. We did arrive early and our room wasn't ready which is fair enough, but when we asked to leave our luggage we were told we had to pay for that! I've never known a hotel, including Premier Inns, to charge guests for leaving luggage. I really wonder if this is worth it, do they make enough money from this to offset the poor first impression this gives guests? The cleanliness wasn't the best either, so maybe they are understaffed. We didn't eat or drink here so can't comment on that. Overall we had a comfortable and convenient stay but have to rate it average due to these points unfortunately.

Disappointing stay. I regularly stay at other Premier Inns and as a lone female traveller I was left outside waiting on admission to reception for some time after a late night arrival, despite seeing a staff member through the window restocking and then had a discourteous staff member provide a slow check-in. Could do much better as per other Premier Inns.
