"Fawlty Towers is alive and kicking in Edinburgh"
Absolute joke of a hotel! The hotel has information about who has booked dinner (I had pre paid on what is a meal package ) and then don’t have enough staff on duty to serve food I went into dinner on the second night of a two night stay at 7/15.I was told that despite the restaurant not being full I would have to wait for 90 minutes . Rather than wait 90 minutes for a table for one (date 9th July) I was told I could order the meal as a takeaway straight away and then eat it at a table outside of the main restaurant rather than at one of the empty tables in the restaurant. !! I have no idea how many milliseconds this may have saved in terms of staff actually bringing it to the table on crockery but eating a meal in polystyrene containers in a hotel is a new one on me. The WiFi is pathetic too. At a cost of £200 a night it’s not particularly cheap either. I watched numerous customers come in and leave bemused that a hotel that offers dinner is unable to serve it !!!’
      "Let down"
Hotel was clean however, got a room with 1 double bed and 2 singles but they were actually touching so you couldn't get in them easily. Also told we couldn't get dinner as they had a big party in. TV in room didn't work. Considering that this was more expensive than other Edinburgh premier inns I feel they could have done a lot better.
      "Disappointing"
Arrived for self check in got to room key didn’t work, returned to reception to have key fixed, and asked about food - could see people entering, tp be told by very unwelcoming member of staff -‘groups are in restaurant is full’ , upon questioning this - was told abruptly that they didn’t know where I could eat - not a very welcoming start and left us having to go out searching for food - in a car showroom estate - instead of enjoying our stay 😕
      "Lovely experience"
Rooms that we booked were on the same floor which is always a huge positive for us as a family of 5 we regularly struggle to get rooms on the same floor even when booking as a preference! I recently a month ago stayed in the Glasgow brae head premier and have to say it was the worst experience in terms of customer service, a run down room and awful breakfast! However after our stay here it’s completely changed my opinion so thank you to the wonderful night receptionist who checked us in at around 330am on the 13th even at that hour he was friendly welcoming and asked lots of questions to help keep us cheery! Morning staff were great very helpful on sorting breakfast! The rooms were also spotless, tidy and well kept! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
      "Close to the airport."
Being close to the airport means noise. Yes, it is located at the end of the runway! Not literally, but planes are noisy and at 05.00 they start. Rooms are spacious and clean, and the restaurant is within the hotel. Parking £7.00 per night. It's a busy hotel, so lacking that personal service. However, very convenient for what I needed.
