"Good hotel near London Paddington"
Stayed at Premier Inn, London Paddington (Paddington Basin) for one night. The hotel is fairly new, the rooms are spacius for a 3 start hotel in London. Very comfortable beds, and a good size barthroom. The room was clean and had all the amenities that could be expected for a hotel of this level. All in all a good stay. The hotel is located near Paddington station, so very convenient especilly if you come by plane and Heathrow airport, but also in general for visiting London. Furthermore the hotel is located in an area with lot of new developments, and close to a canal, where you have a good choise of restaurants and bars.
"Paddington Basin was surprising"
Used this Premier Inn as a base for the Swim the Serpentine. I did not realise how accessible this location was and how busy. The rooms were spacious, quiet, and having the usual base which the Premier Inn is reknowned for. The sleep was great as the bed was so comfy and the room was dark. All the lifts worked except for the one to the restaurant, but this was overcome by the main lifts going to B1 which is the restaurant. The food attached was okay. The breakfast is basic for the all-you-can-eat and much of a muchness to other hotels but there was plenty of space and availability each of the days we paid for it. I would ask that if you book, you get a discount as too many just attended and paid on the door. You are not guaranteed a table so no incentive. An evening meal was had at the restaurant and this was poor. The burger was tasteless and needed the pulled pork for some substance. The chips were cold and the waitress did not believe us until we handed them one. They would not accept our word and gave us a look of disgust when the chip was cold. We had to then wait for a replacement as well as the second plate we ordered. The meals were not given at the same time which is poor. The location of the hotel is 5 minutes from the station at Paddington and just off the Grand Central Canal which was calming, flat, and nice to walk along.
"A nice, clean hotel in a good(ish) location"
It's a nice, clean hotel in a good location — as long as you find the right entrance! The breakfast is good (bring your own vegetables — this is the UK, after all!), and the rooms are extremely comfortable. It's actually just a 15-minute walk from Marble Arch, too. This will be a welcome surprise, especially during a Tube strike! Hopefully, the hotel chain will improve their regional guidance for visitors. In the evenings, the hotel is difficult to reach from Paddington Station, its neighbour, and there are no clear directions on how to get there. It's best to figure it out in advance to avoid any surprises. As usual, the Wi-Fi at Premier Inn is poor, and the so-called 'ultimate' 8Mb Wi-Fi is an expensive joke. However, these issues are easy to overlook as the overall experience is great!
"Calm amidst the bustle"
Visiting England, it was a good central location for various destinations. Not surprisingly, it was popular which many arriving for a 15:00 Friday check-in. I had arrived at 14:00, earlier than expected. Many others had too. Fortunately the staff managed the crowd well. Reception recommended the Bar+Block restaurant for lunch and then the very helpful bar tender Sinan pointed out the monitor showing the queue at reception. So, following a long journey, I was able to relax & let the long queue go down before collecting my keycard. The rest of the stay was excellent. All staff; on the floors, at reception at the bar and in the restaurant were wonderful, friendly and very hardworking. There should be more of them. Thanks
"Anniversary Trip Away"
The staff at this hotel were fantastic - special mention to Nijam at reception, he was incredibly kind, helpful and is an asset to the hotel. Our room was great and the bed was very comfortable. The only let down was breakfast, which has loads of options however a lot of the cooked food was very oily and the mushrooms looked awful every day, like they hadn’t been washed and had just been cooked straight out the packet as there was still dirt all over them. Other than that, the breakfast staff were amazing and more than happy to help with dietary needs.
