"Great bedroom, great location , fantastic staff"
Great hotel lovely staff. Bedrooms were amazing and clean. Defo recommend this hotel to other visiting London. Hope to come back soon.
"Friendliest Reception Staff Ever"
The only problem I had is that I went to two other hotels before I got to the right hotel. But once I was at the right hotel, I was delignted by the friendly reception staff. When I walked in they were chatting amongst themself, laughing and happy. This is so refreshing considering cell-phone-addiction is the norm. The room was excellent, light, airy and spacious and I appreciated that I couldn't hear my neighbours. The mattress is great, and I loved that the Premier Inn has an agreement with the mattress manufacturer to sell mattresses. This joint marketing program is beneficial not only for both companies, but also for their clients, who are always guaranteed a great mattress. The breakfast and suppers were excellent. I found the quality of the food and drink to be top notch and I appreciated that I could have muesli and plain yogurt as part of my breakfast.
"What the TV adverts don't tell you"
Premier Inn London Paddington (Paddington Basin) promises a lot in its glossy adverts—comfy rooms, hearty breakfasts, and seamless check-ins. And to be fair, some of that did ring true. The mattress was genuinely comfortable, the room spacious, and the shower room spotless. I even appreciated the thoughtful choice of shower gel and the reliable Wi-Fi (though more on that in a moment). The location is excellent—once you can find it. But beyond the room itself, things began to unravel. Let’s start with the entrance. Arriving at night felt like stumbling into a blackout zone. A few more lights wouldn’t go amiss unless the goal is to test guests’ night vision. Check-in was another surprise. The app promised a slick QR-code experience to skip the queue. In reality, it was more of a digital handshake to confirm payment, followed by a wait and a helping hand from staff—unless you’re a seasoned Premier Inn regular with secret powers. Elevators? Only two of five were working. If you’re staying in a Premier Plus room on the higher floors, prepare for a vertical pilgrimage or a long wait. Sharing lifts with everyone else meant the “Plus” felt more like “Pause.” Breakfast was the biggest letdown. The adverts suggest it’s included. It’s not. It’s an optional extra—and frankly, not a great one. The selection was limited, the fruit thawed from frozen, the coffee weak (not all machines worked), and sweeteners were nowhere to be found. Plates weren’t cleared until guests left, which meant stacking dirty dishes or reusing your own. Honestly, the Hilton next door looked increasingly tempting each morning. Housekeeping was another curveball. Rooms aren’t cleaned during your stay unless you specifically request it. This policy wasn’t mentioned at check-in, nor was it clearly displayed. It felt like a game of “Guess the Rules,” and I lost. Dining tables were sticky, floors around them neglected, and the breakfast area lacked the sparkle one might expect. Add to that poor signage to find the hotel in the first place, and you’ve got a stay that was more “meh” than memorable. And about that Wi-Fi: yes, it was reliable—but only if you paid for the upgraded version. Another detail the adverts gloss over. To be clear, the staff were warm and welcoming, and the bedroom and bathroom were genuinely good. But the overall experience didn’t match the marketing. If Premier Inn wants to live up to its promises, it might start by dimming the hype and turning up the lights—literally and figuratively.
"Good"
Afifa and Vika on the front desk are amazing . They were so friendly and cheerful it was actually a warm welcome . Everything was good .
"Fab location and room. But not so smoothly run"
Pros: Excellent location Modern, comfortable premier plus room. Good amenities Cons: Some reception staff were a letdown. They didn't really care about our small requests. Seemed reluctant to help. No phone in room to contact reception so had to trek down 14 floors 3 out of 5 lifts out of service First night we stayed, the water supply was cut off the entire night
