Bridlington Seafront hotel

We have stayed in 3 Premier Inns and I have to honestly say this one came 3rd. Breakfast on our 2nd day was very poor. Very little fresh fruit, only banana's available, no croissants available, we had to continually ask along with other guests to have cooked breakfast items to be replenished. When staff was asked why items were not available , the reply was it's down to supply and availability. We walked out after breakfast only to find local shops full of fresh fruit etc. Very poor Premier Inns.

What is it about this country since the COVID pandemic? Prices have gone up (and keep going up) while customer service has quietly wandered off. Staff don’t seem remotely bothered anymore. Take housekeeping at Premier Inns. Pre-Covid, your room was cleaned daily — you practically had to beg them not to do it. Now you’re queuing at reception with other guests like Oliver Twist: “Please sir, may I have some more toilet roll?” On this visit we stayed in Room 319 — a “Premier Plus” room. Yes, we made the mistake of paying extra for this experience. The room itself? Small — you couldn’t swing a cat in it. The “rain shower” described in the handbook was more of a polite dribble. They even squeezed in an ironing board and iron in the wardrobe area which left room to hand one top. We asked the manager for still water — and we’re still waiting. The “Plus” upgrade promises complimentary water; in our case it was more of a conceptual offering. If the manager can’t manage water, it doesn’t bode well. Sold as “premium”, but featuring chipped paint, bits missing off chairs, a broken toilet roll holder, and a shower that’s more suggestion than function. We’ve stayed at this Premier Inn before in Room 401 (larger room) — twice, a year apart — and reported a broken vanity mirror light the first time. Came back the following year and… still broken. Consistency, if nothing else. Save your money. The “upgrade” isn’t worth it.

All good except towels smell like they'd been stored near kitchen picking up food smell

This is perhaps the most disappointing Premier Inn we have stayed in. First of all, it is on the sea front but does not face the sea. Only the end of the building faces the sea. So when you go to book a sea view room, you will be booked a 'room with a view', not of the sea, but of a four storey terrace of old B&B hotels opposite. You can only see the sea if you stand right up close to your window and peer to one side, and you will get a glimpse of the sea past the end of the B&B's! Check-in was slow, as the self service terminals were out of action, it appears they had been for some months! The restaurant here was very cold, there was no heating and most diners were sitting at tables eating meals with their coats on. Many of the tabletops were very sticky, so sticky that sauce bottles and serviettes became stuck to the table. We only ate here the first evening of our stay. In the morning, I asked for a bowl of porridge to start my breakfast, but was told it was not available, as the kitchen had run out of milk! Our Premier Plus room wasn't that clean, with copious amounts of dust along the back of the dresser. There were notices in the room encouraging guests to recycle responsibly, but this was not something the management subscribed to. A skip in the hotel car park contained loads of discarded table menus and other Premier Inn merchandising; they certainly do not care about recycling or the environment here! Don't be put off visiting Bridlington, it's a lovely town, and there's plenty to see and do here, but I suggest you find somewhere else to stay rather than this hotel.

Such a friendly team. Charlie and the restaurant team are great. Nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are clean and quiet.
