"Torquay is a special place"
We always use premier inn and the location of this is special to us and the perfect location for a couples or family break with all the standards expected from the premier inn brand A little dated in some areas this is down to the aging building
"Needs serious improvement"
Got to the hotel looked beautiful from outside. Got to reception and there was no one at the desk another member of staff who was working at the restaurant came through and told us oh she won’t be long she is making up rooms. After 25 minutes wait she turned up and apologised the poor woman looked absolutely exhausted she was looking after the front desk and making up the rooms. We got to our room and it was tiny there was a fixed desk on one wall at the bottom of the bed. There was a chair at the desk but you couldn’t pull it out to sit on it because it was hitting the bottom of the bed there was 6 inches between the desk and bottom of the bed! I will say the bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom reasonably clean. The net curtains in the bedroom and bathroom area were absolutely filthy and torn i think they were meant to be white they were a dirty grey colour and there were black cigarette burns on the pvc windowsills . The first morning we had no hot running water in the shower we did report it and to be fair it was sorted promptly . The TV was useless it took at least a minute to change to each channel then it would jump to the next three or four . I will praise every one the staff at the hotel they were all friendly and helpful they are all run of their feet it was a very busy time and they were coping brilliantly I have nothing but good to say about them. Premier Inn management need to look at this hotel and make serious improvements to some areas in this hotel. To all the staff id like to say thank you for your hard work you deserve a serious pay rise.
"Could be better"
This is the 2nd time we have stayed in 12 months. The main attractiin is its location. However, the hotel is dated. The common areas carpets are dirty, especially at the hot breakast servery which is very sticky (it needs a plastic non slip runner). The rooms are adequate & clean. The baths are deep so quite difficult to get in & out for a shower. The staff are pleasant & helpful. Parking is £8 per day & you need to make sure you register daily. There are bars & restaurants close by & bus stops outside the hotel for access to Newton Abbott, Paington & Brixham. We are seniors so were able to use our bus passes.
"Good views if you pay extra, average hotel otherwise."
The location is thge main thing going for this hotel. It is right on the seafront with some rooms having sea views (for which you have to pay extra even if the view is largely obscured by trees, as ours was). It is also convenient for cafes, restaurants etc on the seafront. Our Premier Plus room was spacious and had a fridge, but it was also showing signs of wear and needed a refurb. For a vegetarian like me the options are very limited and unimaginative. For those with mobility issues, don't think that the fact that they have lifts is the only thing to consider. We had to walk what felt like miles along a couple of the longest corridors I've ever come across in a hotel just to get to the left. There are signs everywhere urging you to report people in disabled spaces without blue badges in the car park. I spotted one and duly went to reception expecting themn to ask for details - number, location, maybe make and model etc, but the receptionist showed no intreest in the matter - she simply thanked me and began talking to someone else. I would be amazed if any action was taken.
"Great stay"
Great stay, comfy family room with a perfect view of the beach. Had everything we needed for a few nights stay. The man on the desk (didn't catch his name) was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again.
