"Very nice!"
Stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of June and it was quite nice. I have stayed in a good number of Premier Inn's over the years, so knew what to expect, but this was by far the biggest i have stayed in. This is hotel is meant to be a 'Premier inn Plus' hotel yet you cannot tell as its room was the same as a standard Premier Inn, nothing extra in any of the rooms. Apart from the comfy bed and the option of a bath, everything else is pretty much basic. I was hoping for a room with a sea view but got a room on the side of the building with a hint of the sea (see pic attached). The table/desk in the room looked like it had knocked up by someone with limited DIY skills as the edge was a bit on the rough side. The TV, couple of things to point out, (though this may differ from room to room), there is no tv guide on it like most Premier Inn tv's, so unable to see in advance what is on later on that day/night. Also the volume was set to not go past 23 (see pic attached), which was annoying as the volume was not that good, and on 23 you could just about hear it. The room was on the first floor, which was a family room, and better use could of been made with the excessive space in there. The reception can get quite busy - when we checked in we were in a queue of 3 people, with one or two standing behind us. It took 15 minutes to get checked in as only 1 person was on reception. The reception is quite dark - extra lighting is needed in there. The hotel is ideal if you wish to eat on the premises, though its not cheap! There is a Beefeater built on to the hotels side, and there is a good sized bar there with outside wooden table and chairs in their 'beer garden'. Parking is available at the hotel chargeable at £8 per night, which you pay at the machine opposite reception on your way out. There is very very limited free on-street parking available here as you are bang smack opposite the beach, however there is the odd few free parking spaces dotted around, mainly to the streets at the back of the hotel. The hotel is in a perfect location, across the road from the beach, 10/15 minutes walk to the left to the Marina/Torquay town centre. There are a few places close by to eat and drink, but your take-aways are more further afoot. To your right you have a lovely park and Torre Abbey and Paignton which is only just under 3 miles away. I walked it to Paignton, but if you wish to catch the bus, its the number 12 and it goes past the hotel.
"Amazing location - but the bedroom is old"
We were warmly welcomed and the teams are accommodating. The only downfall is the room hygiene and the noise from the shower.
"Awful stay"
Premier plus room quite big. Hotel corridors and our room smelt of damp and stale cigarettes. Curtain.rail fell down. Hanging led light dangerous. Toilet seat broke. Tried to fix but pooh on fixings. Pooh on skirting boards in bathroom. Light shade in bathroom dusty. Could open windows and it was 22degress outside. Air con wouldn't go below 19. Had the most awful trip. No sleep for 2 nights. Bed comfortable but too hot. 3rd year stopped here and will be the last I'm afraid. Had it's day. Not worth the money anymore
"Welcome your guests"
We were seen in reception by a stoney faced, unfriendly receptionist after a five hour drive. Told you can’t check in for half an hour unless we pay £15, we paid. The bar staff so friendly as was the lady at breakfast, the cleaners were very nice, first impressions not excellent in the customer service department , be more welcoming and friendly
"Summer or winter with a big smile"
The location of this hotel is great. We had a brilliant sea view with a large bedroom with both a shower and bath. The beefeater attached to this hotel was great. The breakfasts were of great quality and the breakfast service was amazing. The evening meals and menu was full of options and the food was of great quality the staff were very attentive. Especially Daisy ad Lex who were great all week. The carpark was also good. Even though it cost each night. There were plenty of spaces and at no time did we not get a place.
