Glasgow Pacific Quay (SECC) hotel

We stayed here during the Commonwealth games. The outside temperature was around 17°C; the temperature in the room overnight was preconfigured to 19°C and could not be changed, but thanks to an AC unit seemingly powered only by the gentle farts of a handful pixies, the room temperature was easily in the mid twenties overnight. Naturally as our two kids had managed to get off to sleep, we didn't disrupt this by having a member of staff come and check the AC unit in the middle of the night; had we done so, and chosen to wake the kids up (guaranteeing a bad time at the games for them without enough sleep) then Premier Inn would have had to honour their 'good night guarantee' and refund us. Subsequent checks of the AC unit stated that it was in working order - that is, working as intended, which is piss poorly. I'm not some pain in the neck who needs AC, but if we take a family room with four people and you won't let us turn the thermostat down, and the window unit is sealed shut so we can't even vent the room, obviously we're going to cook. Stupid windows, stupid default temperatures, stupid AC facilities, stupid policy and stupid 'guarantee' - I have chased them for months and they say they won't offer us even the slightest compensation because we didn't get dressed and bring a stranger up to the room our kids were sleeping in to check if their AC machine was indeed a piece of junk by default. We had a shocking night's sleep and we won't make the mistake of staying in a Premier Inn again when an AirBnB apartment will always at the very least have a flipping window you can open. Everything else about Premier Inn works great for a family with young kids but don't call it the 'Good Night Guarantee' and fail us like this.

We have just returned from a two nights stay at the Premier inn on Pacific Quay with friends. The hotel is in a brilliant location literally opposite the Ovo Arena. The staff are helpful but seem rushed off their feet, especially at check in. Maybe the Premier inn needs to employ more staff here? My reason for a low rating is the fact that the bathroom was slightly worn in places . Not sure if can remember the last time we had an over the bath shower with a curtain. Also on our final morning i did notice a musty smell in the room. We did have a problem with the plug in the sink which was quickly fixed by staff. We probably would stay somewhere else in the area unless the hotel fixes these issues.

Had been concerned after reading a few of recent reviews- but pleasantly surprised as Plenty of Parking spaces ( £11 per day ) register and pay at entrance lobby in hotel - Went to the receptionist rather than the automated check in station - again pleasantly greeted and put in a River View Room . Agree with some of reviews there are tired looking areas of hotel - but room have to say was clean and what is standard of a Premier Inn ( Albeit quite expensive for a Premier Inn ). Had booked Breakfast online - and was going to book an evening meal but changed mind due to previous reviews. Booked a table at Village Inn 3 mins walk from hotel - The Hotel was fully booked during our stay but plenty of staff - we were there for a gig at the Ovo so ideal just across the bridge- after the gig we went to bar for a night cap - no issues- plenty of seats etc and staff gave good service as it was a kitty’s after gig - Breakfast was absolutely fine went just after 9 am - there was plenty of hot food in all trays - the staff were very attentive and helpful - my wife is Gluten Free and was well looked after and got a full hot breakfast ( a little slow ) but a perfect full fried breakfast. All in all a Pleasant Stay nice room- as stated earlier would say expensive for a Premier Inn - Would stay again.

The location on Pacific Quay is actually quite convenient. Close to the science centre, SEC, and OVO. Nice that its on the Clyde. And, if you are a tourist, it is close to the science centre HOHO bus stop. Sadly, the hotel has seen better days. Hallway carpets and walls were quite worn, and could do with an upgrade. Same issue in our room. Cleaning was subpar. Dirty desk chair upholstery, and upon turning back the duvet, there was a clump of hair. I requested a room upgrade, or at the very least a change of room, but they couldn't give us one because they were completely full; however, they had the housekeeping staff change the bed linens again and provide us with extra towels, which we'd requested. Obvious hair in sink drain. Fortunately, the staff were nice, the bathroom was otherwise quite clean, and the bed was comfortable. It was also quiet. Those things brought the stay up to average. I would only stay here again if I needed to.

Evening meal was crap, only one person working in the kitchen. If you have a lot of time on your side then order about will take an eternity to get your food. If in a hurry then go to Sainsbury’s and get a sandwich. This place is shocking !!!
