Glasgow Pacific Quay (SECC) hotel

This time around I cannot fault our stay. Booked a Premier Plus Room for this visit. Room was clean, modern and had that extra couple of touches that made the visit worthwhile. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout and the food was great. Having such a satisfying experience this time around has gone a long way in atoning for our previous visit. 🙂

Paid for Premier Plus room for a bit of extra comfort... Let's start with the positives: 1) Great mattress, albeit scruffily made. 2) Great shower (rainfall model). 3) Handy to have a wee fridge in the room. Now the not-so-positives: 1) Reception: at NO point (from check-in to check-out two days later did I lay eyes on a single receptionist. Went downstairs to look for one to request a top-up of tea etc. and there was nobody to be found. Probably a strategic move to avoid handling complaints on-site... Also deeply impersonal. 2) Pancake pillows - I think that speaks for itself. 3) The "letterbox" (aka. the window) - I've seen bigger windows in a mortuary. Do not book if you want any daylight in your room. If you like staying in dark cupboards, you'll love this place. 4) No power sockets beside the bed, on either side. Only at the "workspace". Better make sure that phone is charged up so your alarm clock doesn't die! All-in-all, would stay again if absolutely necessary. Would just bring my own pillows, a portable power-bank and some vitamin D supplements.

Booked for a show at the hydro, I was annoyed and a little confused as to why you need pay to park in the hotels parking area along with paying for a room. The room rate was £141 for a standard room on a Wednesday night,all car and check in was automated with long queues and confusion but eventually did them both. We had room 144, it was small,no real view,the toilet had dirt in it,floor was dirty ,shower rusty and dirty, carpet was also dirty thick dust on night stands and strange glue lumps,lots of marks on the bedroom wall,housekeeping eventually arrived and cleaned toilet but nothing else. It was a disappointing stay and I would not recommend it for the price,Travelodge is a safer bet and get a taxi to the hydro

Great location for going to the hydro or sec. Comes with a premium price that apart from the location it doesn't deserve. I've had better stays in standard premier Inns at a much lower cost. Nothing elite or premium about the room

The view of the river was great. Its very close to public transport and the staff are very nice. We didn't eat at the hotel but the staff were very good at offering reservations. The room was really clean with the exception of a small bit of mould on the bath and that bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I definitely will be back.
