"Rude welcome"
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience due to the attitude of one particular receptionist.
When I arrived, reception was unmanned and a sign instructed guests to press the bell for attention. I pressed it, but there was no audible sound or indication that it had worked. After waiting quite some time, during which another gentleman joined the queue, I pressed it again because I genuinely wasn’t sure anyone had been alerted.
When the receptionist eventually arrived, there was no acknowledgement of the wait or even a basic apology. Instead, she immediately spoke to me in a rude and aggressive manner, telling me that I needed to give her time to walk to reception because she had been at the other side of the building. I had no way of knowing where she was or how the hotel’s setup worked, particularly when the bell gave no indication that it had gone off.
Having worked in the industry myself, I fully understand that staff can be busy and may need to cover different areas. However, the professional response would have been to acknowledge the wait and politely explain the situation—not approach a guest as though they were at fault for following the instructions displayed at reception.
Her manner remained hostile and dismissive throughout the interaction. There was no apology, no smile and no attempt to make me feel welcome; she appeared visibly angry simply because I had rung the bell for assistance. When I politely asked how to pay for parking as I was staying that evening, her attitude did not improve. This is an entirely inappropriate way for someone in a customer-facing reception role to speak to a guest and created an extremely poor first impression.
I would, however, like to make clear that the receptionist working later was absolutely fantastic—friendly, helpful and someone I couldn’t fault whatsoever. Unfortunately, the initial interaction left a very negative impression and significantly affected the overall experience.

"Excellent stay"
The Location of this hotel is ideal for exploring Edinburgh, it is a 10 minute journey by train and the train station is right next to the hotel.
The staff were warm, welcoming. friendly and extremely helpful.
The hotel was spotless and had everything that we needed.

"Great hotel….as long as you don’t drive there!"
A great hotel and easily accessible via the Edinburgh trams from the airport. However don’t try and use your satnav if driving as it will take you to a turn off Hermiston Gait roundabout past the Novotel and onto a private road withe barriers that you can’t get through. Then you have to retrace your steps go up to Gogar roundabout and find the South Gyle road and drive at 20mph a long way with no signposts to tell you if you’re on the right track! Bizarre! But lovely staff and hotel. Awful AI telephone ‘assistant’

"Good access from airport tram"
Easy access from the airport via tram. Get off at Edinburgh park central and cross over the station doorway to access the hotel just a couple of minutes walk. Clean, comfortable quiet location.

"Good stay and will be back again….Please add a fridge to family rooms"
Another good stay at this hotel in a family room. Nice modern hotel, friendly staff and good breakfast & dinner.
Good location with tram into Princess Street in around 15/20 minutes.
Only thing lacking is a fridge in Family Rooms. Should include a fridge as a family of 4 cant book a Premier Plus Room.
