Whitley Bay hotel

We stayed from June 20-29, 2026, booking made directly with the owner. 60 euros double room, price quality was ok but... it does not include cleaning, garbage removal, linen/towel change. It would be better to write or inform in advance. When we checked in, he said that all we needed to ask for, but not that all of the above would not be done. I don't know if it was like that all the time or just when we went, the reviews don't specify. It didn't bother me, but others..., I know you say we're on vacation and you don't have to do anything... For me it was fine, I'm not looking for luxury or a lot of space, but it's good to know when booking to ask the owner what room it is, on what floor, he told me that I had the room on the top floor (from the picture on the website, that's where it was) he later insisted on giving me some pictures that I would stay in room 11 (this is how I do every reservation to be sure I get what I booked, this is after some experiences), but the hotel's picture on the website hasn't been changed, probably a few years ago they built another floor, which is better arranged, and on the other ground floor and first floor they changed the joinery, it's double-glazed with mosquito net and roller blinds for darkness. I think it would be good to make some small changes on these floors that I don't think are that expensive. (painted the legs of the tables on the terrace, put in new clothes racks, cleaned the spiders, dust...) The hotel is not for people with pretensions. I appreciate that it is a family business and it seems that all the work is now done by the owners' son, but it is good to give all the information so that they don't have any inconvenience. The location of the hotel is very good, for those who want peace, lots of greenery, on the seashore, supermarket nearby, two restaurants (a bit expensive). I don't want the owner to misunderstand me about what I wrote and the pictures posted, but I think that as long as you write a review, it should be written as it is. For me, the accommodation was very good, perfect for my budget, I don't waste my money on luxury, I prefer decent accommodation. Have a nice holiday wherever you stay!

It's in a great location and if you get a sea view room on the 1st or second floor then its very nice. Avoid the accessible rooms if you can and check the bed. Some great, some poor. Make sure the A/C works as the windows are sealed. Ours turned itself off after 3 hours which is no good at 3 am.... Parking is free 6pm to 10 am and available via ringo so you can extend as required.

Husband and I went for 5 nights. Staff all friendly, but stretched thinly. The room was ok, bed a bit hard for me, but husband found it ok. They don't make the room up unless you ask at reception, so on the 3rd day we did that, asked for clean towels and room cleaned. We got clean towels, but the only thing done in the room was the bin got emptied!. Bathroom not cleaned, bed not made, room not hoovered. 😒 Restaurant needs a good clean, tables need varnished (very sticky), chairs need replacing, very marked and also wobbly. Menu not great, all fast food, could do with some fresh veg, and maybe a pasta dish occasionally. In all the place needs a good deep clean, probably more staff would help.

Nice welcoming staff, but room and parking could do with some improvements. Like lowering the height of the bed - was way too high to sit on it comfortably (and only one chair in the room). Provide storage shelf space - There is no space at all to put clothes etc on, meaning the under TV 'table' top gets really congested. nowhere to hang towels .... Need a towel rain outside of the bathroom as the bathroom rail is not big enough / hanging them in that room does not get the dry enough. Also there were only x2 mugs and no glasses in the room. Used to provide x2 glasses on the kettle tray but looks like they do not any more. Reserved parking for guests at busy times - understand it is a council carpark but no spaces available when we arrived / had to keep driving in and out of the carpark hoping for one to become available. Wasted aprox half an hour of our time doing this / delayed check-in as it was a really busy/sunny Sunday afternoon on the promenade.

We have stayed at this hotel quite a few times now. The rooms are very comfortable, and the location is second to none, if you want to be by the sea. Step out the front door, and there's the sea, with great costal paths for good, long walks. When we arrived at the hotel, we were met at reception by Pamela. Pamela was incredibly friendly, greeting us with a smile, making us feel very welcome and valued.
