"Good Premier Inn - great location and spacious restaurant"
Pros - Great location close to the Metro centre and public transport links to Newcastle City - Easy to find - just off the A1 bypass - Plenty of parking - Restaurant was spacious and food was good both at breakfast and evening dinner. - Room typical Premier Inn - top floor best. Cons Not much but - very weak showers on top floor - Windows had double glazing to keep road noise down. - limited TV channels - another car park menaced by a management company - sure it is free and easy enough to sort but use of ANPR is always a retrograde step. - quite isolated unless you get the car out - not much to walk to around the Hotel.
"Another solid Premier Inn experience 💪"
Excellent service, clean room, very good breakfast. Very friendly staff. Good parking. Road noise actually fairly minimal.
    "Good Value Hotel"
Stayed here while visiting the local hospital, which was around a 15-minute drive away. The room was clean and located at the back of the hotel, so we barely heard any road noise. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was some strange noise during the night—it sounded like someone running around on the roof. We were on the top floor, so not sure what it was, but it did go on for a while and made it a bit hard to sleep. Restaurant on site was good value for money, really friend staff and good food. Overall, a convenient and comfortable stay for what we needed.
    "Sad to Write This"
Lets be clear. I like Premier Inn as a brand, particularly the hotels near Gatwick. So it saddens me to write this First, I'll tell you what I liked. The staff, mainly helpful and friendly. The FREE PARKING Reception area, clean and light with iced water dispensers, and glasses for thirsty travellers The bathroom was GLEAMING The supplied air conditioning FAN was a nice addition and kept the room cool Now the bad: When we pulled in, had I not known this place, I'd have turned round and gone elsewhere. I guess there was an event the previous night as the area in front of the hotel was a MESS, litter, rubbish, and other no-noes. The lobby before reception was messy. I think a new advert unit was being installed as there was plaster dust and detritus littering the area. This was all tidied up by the time we left our room the following day, and stayed tidy for our week's stay However, it was a hot day, hubby was shattered after the drive, and he just wanted a shower to recover. Receptionist made sure that our room was ready in ten minutes. It is an accessible room as I have mobility issues. Nice low bed, easy for me to get into. Bathroom has loads of grab rails. Unfortunately, the lower level bath was no good for me to use. The bath surface was SLIPPERY Additionally, I should surely not expect to ask TWICE for the toilet paper receptacle to be replenished There were no glasses or tumblers in the bathroom. The cups supplied for tea/ coffee are glass. Tea just doesn't taste good out of them. When the room was serviced, the tea and milk were not replenished. Further, the 'easy' chair HAD SEEN BETTER days, the only way to make it comfortable was to use a pillow on the seat The Wifi. Is a joke. The standard free wifi is pretty rubbish, but you can ?upgrade? to Ultimate Wifi, which is NOT SECURE, and DROPS OUT regularly. £5 for 24 hours, when you get maybe 3 hours of SLO MO service We had food in the restaurant a couple of times. Service was good but the food only average I guess it's just head office cuts responsible for most of this, but I may not be back
"Average at best - neglected with some minor highlights"
Stayed here for 3 nights long weekend exploring the North East of England. Hotel is on outskirts (1.5 miles away) of the Metrocentre shopping complex - but there's no real public transport (not even a bus that drops nearby) between the Premier Inn and the shopping centre. So every day had to drive to the Metrocentre, park car and use the train to go into Newcastle. From there you can get tain and/or Metro to other areas nearby Tyneside. Plenty of secure parking onsite and near gas/petrol station just 50m away. Hotel is neglected and tired/dated. Arrived to park car in the morning prior to returning later to check in (use the display inside reception to register your car otherwise an unpleasant and hefty fine will be issued). Upon arrival at reception, the entrance was strewn with litter, dirt and apparently unvacuumed. Just - why? All it would take would be a quick tidy up to make this look presentable and to give a better first impression. Room - good, spacious, clean. On first floor so i used the lift near reception to carry up bags. Be aware that the room above has extremely creaky floorboards. People walking in room above causing huge thudding and noisy activity (not their fault that the flooring is poor). Stopped at bedtime so not a major issue. Wifi - didnt use Premier Inn one - brought my own router and unlimited data card - good signal for Three 4G network from my room Food - breakfast Monday to Saturday is cooked to order and very hot, tasty and fresh. Enjoyed my breakfasts immensely. Sunday was buffet style so expect congealed beans and overbaked eggs. Staff pleasant and welcoming though, so i was quite happy with food. Did not eat there in evenings (bought snacks and salads from nearby Lidl/Aldi). Whilst in Newcastle, I visited Whitley Bay, Tynemouth (both beautiful seaside towns), then Durham for the day (another beautiful university city) and wandered Newcastle with a few good beers thrown in during the daytime. The Premier Inn MetroCentre hotel is set outside of any main area and you'll have to drive/uber to get to the Metrocentre (which does have huge choice of restaurants of all cuisines). Would book nearer to city centre next time.
