"Great service"
Excellent service with Conner always on hand and given us outstanding service. The hotel is good value, and you s in a good location.
"How it can all go wrong."
I had 3 rooms for a 2 night stay. Quite run down, black mould on the ceilings and around the bath in all 3 bathrooms. 1st room was below ground level so no daylight or phone reception. 2nd room on the top floor facing a brick wall, the card switch thing at the door wouldn’t work so no power. 3rd room had no tv remote and they struggled to get one that worked. Free WIFI is not worth the effort with incredibly slow speeds. Fast check-in devices were out of action. Lift from the carpark has been out of action for months. Parking was expensive at £20 per night, you are a 15 minute walk to the town centre. Massively understaffed. Very disappointing.
"Missed the mark"
I stayed here for one night whilst attending an event at the conference centre. The welcome at reception were pleasant and all the staff seemed nice. However the hotel is tired and worn, I didn’t walk on the carpets without my shoes on! The rooms are very basic, the bed was really comfortable which was a plus. Everything didn’t really function as one would want. The lift was out of order from the car park so you had to carry your luggage up and down the stairs. I asked at reception in the evening on my way out of someone could put an iron and iron board in my room for my return and although they said yes, this didn’t happen, then in the morning when I went down to get the ironing board from reception I ended up locked out of my room as my key wouldn’t work. I went back to reception to get a new key and was told that this happens a lot as the key cards are old and need replacing: Overall it just miss the mark even for a function one night stay.
"Not up to Premier Inn standards"
With the understaffing this hotel is chaotic as the excellent staff are running around in ever decreasing circles. we had a problem with a running toilet cistern and the staff didn't have the time to look at it and either repair, or move us to another room. Evening meal food service was shambolic, because of the understaffing. Made Fawlty Towers look excellent.
"Great value if you choose the dates well."
Great price as it was between conferences ( despite being half term). Super reception & a nice big room. Quiet overnight & a vast spread at breakfast. Close to the town centre & plenty of places to eat and drink locally. Overall a great place to stay for a short break. We visit maybe twice/year and have never been disappointed.
