"Disappointing experience."
We’ve always looked for the nearest Premier Inn when we’re visiting a Theatre etc in all parts of the country and have done for many years. Sadly the quality of service has plummeted since we first started using them. This particular one is the worse one we’ve stayed in. Someone not dressed smartly as expected checked us in and didn’t ask if we’d like breakfast the following morning and gave absolutely no information about times etc, and so we had to ask for every detail. We couldn’t book a table to eat in the restaurant that evening either because apparently the chef’s new, doesn’t know the kitchen and will probably cook for the four people who have pre-booked then go home. There was no breakfast menu in the room, but fortunately due to experience we had a good idea of where to go for it the next morning. The walls in our room were very dusty and had quite a few cobwebs, which caused my husband to sneeze a lot. The toilet had a constant trickle of water running in it which we could still hear even when we closed the lid and kept the bathroom door shut, so despite the claims, we didn’t sleep well at all. After our evening visit to a local Theatre, we were very concerned that the route to the hotel entrance is not only not paved for pedestrians, but also not lit at all. We were quite concerned about cars passing us as we walked the steep incline back towards the entrance in the dark. The cooked breakfast we had the next morning was barely lukewarm and the fried eggs were very small and rubbery. Thankfully we only booked to stay for the one night and will definitely not be returning! The only thing that was ‘Premier’ was the increase in price per night and certainly not value for money.
"Dirty and run down"
I have stayed here before with issue, so I didn’t check the reviews as I believed it would be ok. We were only staying overnight while seeing a show and spending the day in town before hand so we were not after much, but I would have liked it to be clean. We stayed in room 209. We took pictures as I feel I need to also pass this on directly so it can maybe acted upon. We were not the only guests with concerns over the cleanliness. The room was thick ( and I mean thick ) of dust, the tops of the bed head and pictures, cobwebs dangling from the ceilings and corners, the toilet was disgustingly and yellow stained under the seat and the bottom of the toilet was thick with dirty crusted limescale. The board with the plugs on was hanging off, not just loose and a bit wobbly but dangling off. Under the bed was stuffed a duvet and mattress protector. The spare pillow was stained with blood and had yellow stains on it, there was no pillow cases for the spare pillows. There was only one towel in the bathroom for two guests. The corridors leading to the room were dirty and in poor repair with some of the walls just having bare plaster. The breakfast the next morning was poor, there were many guests complaining after waiting 20 minutes for the eggs and sausages to come out, there was a poor selection and you certainly couldn’t call it continental. Yes we did all tell someone but the staff on were not interested and looked like they just wanted to go back to bed. The dining area was grubby and run down. I have stayed at many Premier Inns with no issues this is by far worst
"Not cleaned"
Me and my wife have stayed at this hotel many times and we were worried about negative reviews in recent months. We arrived at the weekend and went to the room….straight away you could clearly see that the room had not been vacuumed, this seems to be the norm going by the latest reviews.I paid £50 for the stay and people will say you only get what you paid for but if it was £150 a night it is exactly the same…..it must be clean 100%..Now if premier inn have let standards slip and give up I will also….i will try a different hotel for sure….. If anybody wants to get in touch from the hotel to discuss the problems I will gladly will
"Black mold on ceiling"
I went to harrogate with a group of friends and stayed here. I walked into the first room, and it was obvious it hadn't been cleaned properly for a while. The ceiling of the bathroom was covered in black mold. It was on the surface and could just be wiped off, but no one had bothered to do it. I went to reception and they gave me another room which was fine, however some of the people I went with were not offered another room at all. I've stayed at quite a few Premier Inns around the UK, and have never seen anything like this before.
"Give this hotel a miss!"
I was in a large group of ten, and whilst my upgraded room was okay, the majority of the group were extremely disappointed with their rooms. Black mould was found on the bathroom ceilings, and the rooms had not been cleaned with waste left in the bins. The skirting was covered in dust and the carpets were dirty. There was no offer of a room change and all the staff would say was, we have told them we need a refit. I find most premier inn hotels to be more than sufficient but I would not stay at this one again.
