"Harrogate Town Centre Premier Inn"
My husband and I are frequent guests, typically staying four to five times a year, and until now we have consistently regarded Premier Inn as a reliable and high-quality choice. Unfortunately, this visit fell significantly below the standards we have come to expect.
We booked the Harrogate Town Centre Premier Inn for 3 nights.
From arrival, the issues were evident. The hotel frontage was heavily littered with cigarette butts, creating an immediate poor impression. Our initial room had clearly not been cleaned properly: there was dry spilt milk on the dressing table and chair, the bathroom was dirty, the carpet had not been vacuumed, and the furniture was in a poor state of repair, including peeling veneer on the bedside cabinets.
We were moved to a second room on the same floor; however, this too had not been cleaned to an acceptable standard. Given the condition of both rooms, we felt we had no choice but to purchase antibacterial wipes and clean the bedroom and bathroom ourselves.
Cleanliness issues extended beyond the rooms. The corridor carpets on the second floor remained visibly unclean throughout our stay and did not appear to have been vacuumed at any point.
We had also booked the meal deal, including breakfast and dinner, but the restaurant experience was equally disappointing. The dining area was consistently unclean, with tables left uncleared and used dishes accumulating, seemingly due to staff shortages. There were visible cobwebs hanging from light fittings, and shelves were heavily covered in dust. Floors were not vacuumed, and used napkins from the previous evening remained on the floor.
Breakfast service was particularly poor. Hot food items were not replenished despite repeated requests from guests. On one occasion, poached eggs were overcooked to the point of being hard and were served sitting in a plate of excess water.
Evening meals were also problematic. On one occasion, we were informed that orders could not be taken for at least 40 minutes due to the chef being busy, despite there being only four occupied tables. Desserts consistently took approximately 50 minutes to arrive each evening, again attributed to staff shortages.
While the majority of staff were polite and courteous, it was clear that some team members were inexperienced and lacked adequate training. On one occasion, a staff member remained seated during breakfast service and declined to assist, stating she was tired and overworked due to staffing shortages.
We did attempt to find alternative accommodation in Harrogate; however, due to a local event, availability was extremely limited, leaving us with no practical option but to remain.
Overall, this experience was deeply disappointing and far below the standards we have consistently experienced with Premier Inn.
The cost of our 3 night stay with the meal deal was £414.94.
To apologise for the disappointment experienced and as a gesture of goodwill, Premier Inn refunded £88 which is described as part of our room cost.

"Attention to detail !"
Not up to their usual good standards I'm afraid.
No information in the room, no local, no hotel info, no menu's, nothing.
VERY disappointed with the breakfast, which the Premier normally excel at. Attention to detail avoided. Due to staff level cuts ??
No cutlery, morning and evening meals, No butter, No coffee, hard eggs, crispy bacon (Very crispy) etc etc etc ! Got sick of asking for stuff !
Spoilt our time away.
Sorry Premier Inn but facts are facts, pull your socks up, you're better than this !

"Great for business use, but too hot!"
I had a Premier Plus room on the top floor looking out over the adjacent hotel and gardens. Wi-fi was excellent- I did some video conferencing first 2 hours and it held up. Room was a good size,- and I appreciated the Nespresso machine and chocolate.
It was very sunny day and when I checked in at about 4.00pm the room was really hot because the curtains had been left open and there are no nets to diffuse the light. The room never cooled down, as the windows don’t open fully and the air conditioning wasn’t efficient enough to cool the room.

"Met my needs"
This Premier Inn is well-located for Harrogate's attractions. The room was clean and tidy - I believe the place is due to have a re-furb soon.
The receptionist, Sarah, was welcoming and helpful.
No major issues.

"Dreadful… don’t stay here"
We stayed for one night as we were going to the RHS flower show in Harrogate.
We booked a superior double room, if that was a superior room I dread to think how bad a standard room must be!!
It was tired & very basic is the most polite way I can put it.
They were obviously understaffed & their customer service was non-existent.
Breakfast (if you can call it that) was the worst i have ever had in all the years I’ve been travelling…
We had to ask someone to clean a table down for us & the young woman we asked looked at us like we were dirt… she cleaned it but didn’t set it so I had to go looking for cutlery etc.
There were no croissants, pastries or pancakes
There was a long black hair in the fruit tray 🤢
The wholemeal bread ran out
The eggs ran out & after 10 minutes waiting I gave up
(I’m vegetarian) so my breakfast comprised of mushrooms & baked beans.
The coffee machine was broken all they provided was sachets of instant coffee
Premier Inn are famous for their good customer service, however this hotel lacked any!!
If you have booked to stay here, do yourself a favour & book elsewhere !!!!!
