Leicester City Centre hotel

this isn’t the first time i’ve stayed in this hotel but unfortunately will be the last. initially we were allocated room 708 but immediately found that we only had one working light. this was the ceiling light and it was very dim, adding to the dinginess of the room as it had a big column in front of the window. the bathroom light was the same. so we went 7 floors down the stairs to ask to be moved as i felt this was not an acceptable standard for the money i’d paid. we were then allocated room 604, which was equally dated but did at least have a working light so we said we’ll just make the best of it because it’s just overnight and i wasn’t willing to do all that a second time. the carpet was very worn, the bed was smaller than we’re used to, the window, while openable, ended up jammed and made the room very uncomfortably warm that night. there were chips on the skirting boards where the paint had come off and i found what i believe to be mould on the light fixture (see picture). the light fixtures near the vanity area (?) buzzed when switched on and would stay that way until they were switched off again. the bath could have been cleaner, but wasn’t a major issue. we also had a few gripes about the lack of plug sockets near the bed. there absolutely is a refurbishment lottery at this hotel. floors 6 and 7 are incredibly dated which was unexpected as last time we’d stayed here on floor 10 the room was the usual very high standard and was modern. very disappointing, won’t be staying again.

I have stayed here before and needed to come back to Leicester for a funeral. I made the booking at the end of April, only to receive an email from Premier Inn two weeks later advising of a free breakfast offer when booking for a certain period. The date I booked happened to be in that period, so I messaged Premier Inn, explained the situation, only to be told that as I booked before the email, I could not have the offer. I thought this was a shame and not very helpful. So cannot comment on breakfast as I did not eat there. Check in - I am not a fan of self check in machines. It feels really impersonal, so I didn't see any reception staff during our stay. The bar staff in the evening were pleasant and the happy hour offer was a very good deal. The room itself was good. Clean and spacious. The beds are still very good, it's one thing I love about Premier Inn, their beds. A good stay apart from the breakfast offer and lack of reception staff. Would stay here again.

The initial experience was pretty negative even for a premier inn. The check in was functional but not polite and at one stage the reception accused my mother in law of lying. It was unprovoked and I was sure it was a big mistake to book this but as my mother in law was paying condolences to a family in Leicester it was an easy option just to stay on. i was just dropping my mother in-law off and so when I returned 3 days later I was pleasantly surprised that at least one employee - Paula J who was serving breakfasts was exceptional. She was kind to my mother in law and spoke to people by name not by room number. What a contrast.

Really lovely hotel stayed with friend's going to a show, the room was big and spacious with a nice view from the 12th floor. Sabrina was a wonderful host from checking us in to serving us dinner to then coming up stairs to sort our TV out. All staff were polite but Sabrina just made us feel welcomed the food was nice too fish and chips takes awhile but it was worth it. Breakfast was plentiful.

Definitely recommend!! Natalie and her team are so lovely and welcoming. Its location is central to the town, the rooms are comfy and clean. The prices were als very reasonable. Thank you Natalie for a great stay once again!!
