"Great stay"
Stayed at this hotel on 2nd October as seeing Moulin Rouge at Winter Gardens. Met by Julie on reception who was very friendly and welcoming and allocated us a quiet room as requested. The room was spacious & clean with everthing you need. Extra tea & coffee etc available at reception if required. We called in at the newly renovated restaurant for a drink which was lovely and we were impressed with it. On check out we saw Julie again and she asked about our stay making sure all had been ok & wishing us safe travels. She is an asset to the Premier inn team. We will definately return.
"Upgrade Signals Decline rather than Improvement"
I have always been a fan of the Premier Inn. You know exactly what you are going to get room wise. So for what you pay I think they are ideal for a base to rest your head, in short they work for me. With that in mind perhaps I am a little biased in that respect, but it also makes me notice when things are better/worse than what I am expecting. We have stayed in this particular Premier Inn before, (in 2023) and as it is one of the older ones, we previously noticed it was a bit tired and in desperate need of a refurbishment, so when we arrived and saw construction work going on around the site of the restaurant we assumed it was finally getting its much needed upgrade. However, sadly the cosmetic upgrade hasn't been an improvement. The first thing, was we were unable to actually get into the carpark, due to the fact there was a huge lorry blocking the entrance, due to the construction work, but we put that down to just bad timing and couldn't be helped but is a point to consider at this time while the work is going on. When we got to our room, it appeared that all the old dated and chipped light wood fittings had indeed been upgraded to the darker wood fittings of the newer Premier Inns... but, it also appears that now there are no electrical sockets near the bed. This has actually never been an issue for me before as there has always been one available at every Premier Inn we've ever stayed in. This is actually an important thing, as I need the socket for a portable CPAP machine which I need when I sleep. Thankfully, I managed to trail the lead across the floor to a socket on the other side of the room - not ideal and possibly a tripping hazard but needs must. Also, one of the beside lights wasn't working either, not a big issue, and probably just a dead bulb, but not good for what is I assume is a refurbished room. The En-suite wasn't great either, this clearly hadn't been upgraded as the skirting board near the bath wasn't in the best condition. The biggest issue though was the refurbished restaurant which undoubtedly looks lovely now. We had the meal deal and the menu clearly states which meals have surcharges. I chose a House Salad with the option of chicken added, which indeed did cost slightly more with the added chicken, but remains one of the cheapest options on the entire menu and it DID NOT state that this meal had a meal deal surcharge. The only meals which were flagged were the Mixed Grill and Steak meals (See attached photographs as proof) but the member of staff insisted there was a £2.99 surcharge on top of the extra for adding the chicken - for a salad! I paid the surcharge but felt incredibly ripped off. The breakfast the next morning wasn't great either, the bacon and the mushrooms were cold and egg was rubbery, so all in all it really a wasn't great experience, which is a real shame as we have never had any issues here before.
"Amazing"
Room was lovely and clean, bed was so comfy, staff were welcoming, we had breakfast that was yummy. Worth the price. Very happy
"Disgusting previous guests"
Started really well Julie on reception very friendly and helpful. Went down rapidly. Got to room and previous occupant had wet the bed. Totally unacceptable. Breakfast cold eggs like rubber
